House 'disapproves' debt ceiling hike

Washington (CNN) - In a political gesture Wednesday, the U.S. House voted to "disapprove" the Obama administration's recent request to raise the nation's debt ceiling by $1.2 trillion.

The 239-176 vote was mostly along party lines, with one Republican opposing the measure in contrast to support from the rest of the party's majority caucus, while six Democrats supported it.

Here we go again. Our credit was downgraded the last time the GOTP pulled this stunt. I guess they didn't learn. Read the offical reason for the downgrade – it was our disfunctional GOP lead House of Representatives. Please, let's vote out Boehner, Cantor, Ryan, and the whole gang of GOP idiots. Give the President a Congress he can work with and we will move forward. Obama 2012.

Good for the GOP, Obama spends like a drunken sailor. He continually says he's going to focus on jobs, jobs, jobs, yet does nothing. It's time to give Buckwheat his walking papers.

As the GOP seems to be in a "symbolic" mood of late, perhaps they should understand that a majority of Americans now see their anti-American, anti-progress, anti-middle class, anti-President behavior as being "symbolically" treasonous.

Did you hear the incompetent, inept, corrupt union toady president is threatening to put off another one of his multi million dollar vacations until Congress approves his theft of money from the Social Security fund to give to the dope addicts, welfare frauds and corrupt union bosses? No matter how you slice it the responsible, hard working, taxpayers are paying for this president and the democrat liberals to destroy us.

If you want to talk about anti-American behavior, you might start with the greatest threat to the future of our country.
$16 trillion of debt and rising. Our kids have one hell of a deep hole to claw their way out of. With Obama, it only gets bigger. He has no plan for slowing it down let alone reducing it. We cannot tax our way out of this mess. One of the greatest contributions from Washington lately has been the fight Republicans put forth to control spending. This is why we sent them there. This is why we will send Mitt Romney there in November.

@ DumbLefty, you write like an i- dee- ot and a half-wit r'bel. Here we go again. You and Boeiner would rather see America fail than try to vote with Mr. Obama.

Giving the President a Congress he can work with agian will lead to spending and more liberal non-sense like the healthcare bill two years ago.

So no obama doesn't deserve that but a kick out of the white house. A

The Democrats have created a monsterous entitlement government with an endless appetite for endless amounts of money that not even they can control. This country's self destruction simply cannot be stopped if our elected representatives refuse to stop what they KNOW is coming, a federal government default.

They don't want to shut down the goverment??? Well exactly what will happen when we are in the shoes that Greece now finds themselves??? When their CREDITORS and BAILOUT masters tell them what they need to do before getting anymore money? We will be TOLD to shutdown parts of the government (aka austerity measures) only we will have lost control of our destiny and choices, the same way Greece has lost control of its destiny.

Obama and the Democrats have set this country up for total destruction at the current spend and debt levels. If this country votes them in control of the government in 2012, this country will collapse financially within 5 years. They simply refuse to stop the ever expanding US government debt bubble. When THIS one bursts, it will take ALL of us with it. The Great Depression will look like the good old days. You have been warned America.

Obama doesn't need control of anything except a kick out the white house. Full control of congress again would be disastrous.

Great-so the House of Teahadists sent another juvenile “We hate President Obama” message. Gee, imagine that. What these know-nothing clowns and their ignorant minions fail to grasp is this is debt already owed. President Obama is not asking for any NEW funding; we already owe this money. The bill has come due! Pull your heads out of the sand and get a clue. If we do not make good on PREVIOUS obligations, we go into default, thus resulting in yet another S&P downgrade.

Please, America…..wake up! Kick all Teapublicans to the curb in 2012! They have demonstrated repeatedly that they cannot nor should not govern!

How does this create jobs and stop growing income and wealth ineequality/imbalance? Meh. We knew it was coming cuz it was written into the deal, but the fun part is that the GOP/teatrolls think it's some magical moment of public disapproval with which the majority of the voting populace is fervently in agreement. Not. Keep asking for rope and you shall receive, GOPers. I can't wait until you pick out a tree.
