Obama administration denies permit for Keystone pipeline

(CNN) - The Obama administration rejected a bid to expand the controversial Keystone oil sands pipeline Wednesday, saying the deadline imposed by congress did not leave sufficient time to conduct the necessary review.

"The Department does not have sufficient time to obtain the information necessary to assess whether the project, in its current state, is in the national interest," the State Department said in a statement.

Prediction: Obama drops AT LEAST 5% in the polls. He is currently at his zenith. He has proven to the American people he is more interested in politics than jobs and energy for this country.

I hope he has made arrangement for another place to stay come Jan. 2013.

And what of all the oil, gas, and gasoline pipelines that dot this country already ? Will they be moving to remove them as well. ? Out, Out, Out. I'm sure even Union members can agree on this one.

That pipeline would've been terrible for this country! The oil companies don't have the capacity to keep up with the oil they're drilling already, so this would do ZERO for the economy or energy prices. Instead, it would just amount to a land grab for oil companies which would boost speculation, increasing stock prices, profits; and, ultimately, gas prices.

Denying this pipeline was, therefore, not only good for the environment, but also good for the economy. It's nice to see President Obama finally standing-up to the Teabaggers! Keep it up, Mr. President!

We can all drive golf carts with solar panels and China can take the Canadian Oil and drive the cars. No jobs but we can produce plenty of food stamps.

This is just proof that Obama is not concerned with creating jobs in this country unless HE can pick the winners and losers. (Solyndra, among others???) And this project had support from BOTH sides! As they say, this pipeline would create REAL shovel ready jobs! (Unlike the ones Obama chuckled about in a news conference saying "well, I guess they weren't as shovel ready as we thought). I've never understood the Democrats refusal to take steps to keep us from being dependent on other countries for oil (especially now, when Iran is threatening to block the Strait of Hormuz. If this doesn't open some minds as to the damage this president is doing to our country, nothing will.

    Good for him!!

No, he isn't more interested in politics than jobs and energy – he's interested in this planet having a future!!
You have to get past the 'instant gratification' thing – Geez, look at Kalamazoo River ..... is this what you want for the area of the pipeline?? Or don't you care? – and if you don't, you should!!

Too many breaks, too many leaks, too much pollution!! Look at what the dirty filthy tarsands has done to the environment... and will continue to do until the rest of the world takes as strong a stand as Obama!!

Or maybe you don't care if your children and grandchildren have a planet to live on??

Good, This pipeline is for Canada to sell the crappiest oil for export nto the world market. It would NOT have made gasoline cheaper. And they were using a Canada owned American subsidiary to use the threat of imminent domain lawsuits to steal land or force easements on American farmers.
    Good Riddance.
Thanks Obama for protecting the most important aquafer in the Country.
And Protecting the rights of American Landowners!

This pipeline will have some jobs. I only agree with what obama is doing if he is stipulating either a percentage of profits come to america or a percentage of the oil comes to america, rather than being traded on the open market.

"Or maybe you don't care if your children and grandchildren have a planet to live on??"

At the rate of our civil liberty's being taken away by the Obama administration (yes, he didn't veto DFAA, PA and supports SOPA), it won't even matter. How do I know? When we care about the environment and are labeled "terrorists" for cleaning a park, without trial.

Obama and the Federal Government have no right to tell that company what it can do, so long as it's a free market and they are lawfully responsible.

Good, This pipeline was only to get Canadian oil to Texas for refinement and then EXPORT to the world market. It would have done nothing to lower gas prices here in the US. Also, this same Canadian company through an American subsidiary was threatening American landowners with imminent domain lawsuits to steal their land and/or force easements on their property if they did not comply. Thank you Obama for protecting the most important aquafer in the country
Thank you for protecting the property rights of AMERICAN landowners. Good Riddence, Keystone!

60 days wasn't enough, yet the massive healthcare bill was shoved down our throats in record time? This is huge mistake by Obama. Finally he can approve a bill that would actually create jobs, instead of the pork spending BS he made claims against.

Its amazing how quickly the haters and the Republicans party develop amnesia like the BP oil spill or the fact that the Pipline will not produce all the jobs they claim, of course lets not forget that it will only benefit the same group of oil company tax loop hole people, then we have the fact the President sent a job bill to the congress that would have provided for more jobs than the XL Pipeline ever will, but as usual the republicans would not allow the job bill to come up for a vote, I wonder why? I guess just like they continue to do with the old smoke and mirrors and believing that the majority of americans are so dumb to not see through their BS!! 2012 is coming!!

We need jobs. We need energy sources that make us self-reliant. Obama needs to win re-election. Which do you think wins in 2012?

One way or another obama is going to force cap and trade on the American people.
Economy be hanged, obama is going to stop the use of gas and oil, his goal from day one.
Besides, Soros wants to control the all of the oil in the world and he owns obama.

We need to come up with a system to deny gasoline and oil to Democrats and tree huggers. They should be REQUIRED to live the life they are trying to force on the rest of us.
