Dem group to attack Romney in Friday ad

Charleston, South Carolina (CNN) – A Democratic-leaning third party group will attack Mitt Romney's record on abortion rights in a full-page ad in South Carolina's The State newspaper Friday, CNN has learned.

The American Bridge 21st Century Foundation ties Romney to a controversial chemical and medical waste company called Stericycle. Romney's former firm, Bain Capital, invested in the company after he stepped down as CEO, according to the Huffington Post.

Newt Gingrich wanted 'open marriage,' ex-wife says

(CNN) - Newt Gingrich offered his second wife a choice of an open marriage or a divorce when he revealed to her he was having an affair with the woman he later made his third wife, Marianne Gingrich said in interviews with ABC News and the Washington Post.

A day after he told his wife about his affair with Callista Bisek in May 1999, the former House speaker delivered a speech titled "The Demise of American Culture" to a group of Republican women in Pennsylvania, the Washington Post reported Thursday.

Dobson formalizes Santorum endorsement

(CNN) – Influential Christian conservative James Dobson individually endorsed presidential hopeful Rick Santorum in a statement on Monday, praising the candidate for his concern for marriage and international affairs.

"While there are other GOP candidates who are worthy of our support, Sen. Santorum is the man of the hour," he said in a statement released by the Santorum campaign. "His knowledge of international politics, especially Israel and the turmoil in the Middle East, is highly relevant to the dangerous world in which we live."

BREAKING: Romney calls Santorum

(CNN) - Mitt Romney made a "polite" phone call Thursday to rival Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum to "concede victory" in Iowa, according to Santorum's spokesman Hogan Gidley.

But Romney's team objected, saying his campaign didn't concede.

"Gov. Romney called Sen. Santorum to congratulate him on the Iowa results," said Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul.

Romney tight-lipped on big day

(CNN) - Chased by reporters for a comment on the news that Rick Perry has dropped out of the race for the GOP nomination, Mitt Romney offered only a few words of praise for the Texas Governor.

"Governor Perry. Terrific guy. Terrific conservative. Been a great governor. Been great in the race. We're gonna miss him on the stage," Romney said referring to tonight's CNN Debate in Charleston.

Charleston, SC (CNN) – One of Rick Perry's most well-known supporters in South Carolina, former U.S. ambassador and state speaker of the house David Wilkins, will now back Mitt Romney, he tells CNN.

Perry has endorsed Newt Gingrich but Wilkins' decision illustrates that his key allies in the Palmetto State are not necessarily following suit.
