Gingrich plans major speeches, including one on space

(CNN) – Riding the momentum of his South Carolina win on Saturday, Newt Gingrich said Sunday he planned a week of big speeches offering “big solutions for a big country.”

“I’ll be at the space coast in Florida this week giving a speech — a visionary speech — on the United States going back into space in the John F. Kennedy tradition,” the former House Speaker said on C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal.”

He said the days leading to Florida's Jan. 31 primary would include other speeches on health care, housing, the economy, Cuba and Latin America.

“I hope really once a day to do something very positive and clear about positive ways of moving forward as a country to get back on the right track,” Gingrich said.

Also taking to podiums this week will be President Barack Obama and Gingrich’s main rival for the GOP nomination, Mitt Romney. The former Massachusetts governor announced plans for both a “prebuttal” and rebuttal to the president’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night.

Newt's speeches are always visionary. Factual, not so much.

We live on this earth. I think where we live should be fixed before we try to find a place for him to hide.

    He's gonna pander AGAIN.

The last time Newt got in the lead, he opened his mouth, and lost all his momentum. Is this election about giving the presidency to a Don Quixote character like Newt?

Newt won't be able to fool the middle class but he is one of the best politicians out there and he will fool Republicans into voting for him. Newt is one smart manipulator and knows what to say and when to rile up the base and beyond. Gingrich will use this momenteum too climb the polls and take Mitt out, he is just too good for Romney to ovecome. If Newt does win the nomination it will be far more exciting to watch Obama and Gingrich go at and you will see the best debates between these two verses the broken record Romney. Newt will meet his match and then some with Obama but the excitement getting there is worth the ride.

I can't help it, I was hoping to see Obama debate romney and wipe the floor with him but now I am thinking I want to see Obama knockout gingrich in the debate and I also wanted to see Obama make santorium sweat and pee in the debate.
Maybe Obama should depbate all three of them put together. That would be fun to watch.

don’t forget, he was part of the establishment that created the rules that allowed the investment firms and banks to setup a finance meltdown scheme and then bet against it. Costing people homes and jobs and their retirements. It has been reported this started all the way back to Reagan era (his hero?). And now he’s complain that Ronmey was more successful in using the rules he helped create. He’s just jealous that he was not able to use the rules as well Romney. He admitted he was part of the group that created the rules. Ron Paul admitted in the debate that the republicans had control of the house, the senate and the president but did nothing or worse, they created the finance mess. Now Gingrich wants to do it all over again? Has any republican stated how reduce regulations will keep it from happening again? Come on republicans, speak up.

someone needs to explain to me what Gingrich has done for me or the public since he was ousted out of the speaker of the house by his own party. Someone needs to explain t what has he done to show (concrete facts) that he has changed since his own party didn't want his to lead. How do I know he has really changed? All I hear is he has lobbied for himself to get richer!!!!! What makes me think he won't be as back (or worse) as a president as he was as a speaker? If he thinks the speaker of the house was a tough job, how is he going to handle the presidency? He may be book smart but cannot apply is knowledge... I have known a lot of of book smart people that just cannot put their knowledge into practice..

Space should be explored when we have a surplus in our budget-not when we have people hungry and losing their homes. The pres. can win a debate with any Rep. just on his record-he won't have to get in the "gutter" with them.

BTW-if GW was so great and did such a good job why can he not even travel outside the country?? Haven't seen shoes thrown at Pres. Obama or any effigy burning!! Bashing our pres. is getting very, very old!!

Since when doesn't moral issues mean anything towe the people. Newt Gingrich if elected will probably be the only president in the history of our country to have three marriages under his belt. How many of you like the idea
of having Newt's former mistress for your First Lady if he wins the election. Check your polls. Romney leads in a match up with Obama not Gingrich. To elect Newt is to hand the presidency to Obama on a silver platter.

Just thinking – If newt takes the crdit for increasing jobs by 11 million in the Clinton administration, if you follow Newt's logic, shouldn't it be John Boehner's fault that we aren't creating enough jobs now?

one would think that it would be an insult to JFK that a republican speaks about anthing to do with the the space program.

If character no longer matters to the evangelicals, why do they keep preaching their family values?

A mistake is ONCE. A major character flaw is over and over and over.

Didn't Hitler also attack the press and try to discredit them? Wasn't that how he got his propaganda spread with little resistance? We NEED to hear differing opinions and then make our own decisions. We do NOT need a Gingrich dictatorship. NEVER.

I wonder how Gingrch who claims to want to cut the debt wants to spend money on the space program. I personally thing that we should have kept the shuttles until the replacement was functional. I believe that the space program can help us in the long term.

It seems to me that John King didn't ask Ginrich the right question durring the debate. He should have phrased the question like, "If you were having an affair w/ Calista for 6 years while married to Marianne, then essentially, you were practing the open marriage before Marianne knew about your affair. How can she be lying?"

gingrich likes to portray himself as a reaganite..only he is NO Reagan and never will be. Now he is going to make speech about portray that he has vision about space like JFK. He is most certainly NO JFK and never will be. Next he will be professing himself to be ethical, faithful and honest. He may have won South Carolina...but most Americans can see him for who he really is and not what he potrays himself to be.

The Space Speech better include how Newt plans to pay for it and it better not be on the backs of the middle class. This speech is planned on purpose to rally up support for Newt, but if he does not have a clear and measureable plan to pay for it then it is a political ploy

Reading the comments here I have to LOL. First off obama doesn't stand a chance in a debate with Newt. He will cut him to ribbons just by using obama's record, or what stands as his record. All the wishful thinkers here forget 2010. We, the Tea Party, are going to take the senate, more of the house and the pres. My only hope is that they aren't as corrupt as the libs.

Oh don't talk about moral issues either. After clinton and his philandering while in office libs ahve no standing on morals. At least Newt divorced..

I assume the "space" that Newt is referring to is the one between his ears. For heaven's sake, he sounds like he has already been elected President! I totally support women in politics, but are he and Callista joined at the hip???? She needs to work on other facial expressions.
