(CNN) – Authorities blocked U.S. Sen. Rand Paul at the Nashville airport Monday after the Kentucky Republican refused a pat-down at a security checkpoint, his spokeswoman said.
Paul went through a scanner at the airport and set off an alarm, said his spokeswoman, Moira Bagley. He wanted to go through the body scan again instead of getting a pat-down, but officers of the Transportation Security Administration refused, Bagley said.
Abolish the TSA brownshirts right now.
A sitting US Senator who has immunity from prosecution during session gets detained?
This is bizarre.
The answer to 1984 is 1776.
Who does this tea paty clown think he is anyway, that he doesnt have to follow the same rules as every one else does.
This America or a police state? I don't recognize this socialist country any more.
Hello tea party.
Way to go TSA you just signed your own death warrant - Rand will eat you alive
Yeah – better make sure the Senator is not a terrorist. TSA = FAIL
Way to go Rand, stand up for freedom!!
Let the Department of Homeland Gestapo know what time it is!!!
It's the rules... sorry...
Just another jerk who thinks he is special and another example of why the people we send to Washington no more represent us than they represent martians.
If he wanted to go through again, why not let him? I don't see the big deal. I thought we actually had a right to refuse a pat down.
Just another example of how congress sees themselves above the very laws they pass.
Awww, did the special senator have to go through the same procedures as us common folk??? Awww, that's too bad. Suck it up chump!
I guess Rand Paul thinks since he is a Sanator he is above the law. He has to get a pat-down just like all other Americans.
Maybe once the rest of the GOP gets detained there we can get a change to the TSA's overreaching power.
I think TSA just put the nail in their own coffin.
Thanks to our foreign policy it has come to this.
Then they x-rayed his head and found nothing, so they let him go.
Aqua Buddha needs to pay for his own ticket, Rand.
Good, now the Senator knows what kind of a cluster the TSA is, maybe he will fight to fix them.
good for him. someone needs to stand up and get this nonsense changed
Awesome, the more people that do this the better.
it is a good day!
This is WAY out of line. The TSA is obviously targeting Sen Paul for his criticisms against the agency. He is a sitting United States Senator on his way back to Washington to make a vote that is scheduled for 2:00 today. They treat him like a terrorist, not allowing him to go back through a scanner but forcing an invasive full-body pat down. Absolutely disgraceful. TSA has messed up this time. RON PAUL 2012
How dare U treat me like everyone else........
To me he is just another one of those elected idiots who think that things don't apply to him. Who in the hell do he think he is? Don't want to comply then rent a damn car and drive! People are simply losing their minds!
