Spokeswoman: TSA turns away Sen. Rand Paul

(CNN) – Authorities blocked U.S. Sen. Rand Paul at the Nashville airport Monday after the Kentucky Republican refused a pat-down at a security checkpoint, his spokeswoman said.

Paul went through a scanner at the airport and set off an alarm, said his spokeswoman, Moira Bagley. He wanted to go through the body scan again instead of getting a pat-down, but officers of the Transportation Security Administration refused, Bagley said.

Abolish the TSA brownshirts right now.
A sitting US Senator who has immunity from prosecution during session gets detained?
    This is bizarre.

Just another jerk who thinks he is special and another example of why the people we send to Washington no more represent us than they represent martians.

If he wanted to go through again, why not let him? I don't see the big deal. I thought we actually had a right to refuse a pat down.

Just another example of how congress sees themselves above the very laws they pass.

I guess Rand Paul thinks since he is a Sanator he is above the law. He has to get a pat-down just like all other Americans.

Maybe once the rest of the GOP gets detained there we can get a change to the TSA's overreaching power.

This is WAY out of line. The TSA is obviously targeting Sen Paul for his criticisms against the agency. He is a sitting United States Senator on his way back to Washington to make a vote that is scheduled for 2:00 today. They treat him like a terrorist, not allowing him to go back through a scanner but forcing an invasive full-body pat down. Absolutely disgraceful. TSA has messed up this time. RON PAUL 2012
