Gingrich: Pelosi lives in land of 'strange fantasies'

(CNN) – The feud between two former House speakers continued Wednesday, with Newt Gingrich pushing back against Nancy Pelosi's claims that Gingrich "will never" win the White House.

"She lives in a San Francisco environment of very strange fantasies and very strange understandings of reality," Gingrich said on NBC's "Today." "I have no idea what's in Nancy Pelosi's head."

The House minority leader strongly insisted Tuesday night on CNN's "John King, USA" that Gingrich could never become president, saying he's done "plenty of dumb things."

"There's something I know, the Republicans, if they chose to nominate him, that's their prerogative. I don't even think that's going to happen," Pelosi warned.

Her comments set off a firestorm of speculation over whether Pelosi was implying she knew something about the candidate that could potentially damage his candidacy. The inflection in her voice, however, indicated she felt strongly that Gingrich was not qualified for the Oval Office.

Asked Wednesday morning about the interview, Gingrich said if Pelosi was hiding something she should name it.

"I have a simple challenge: Spit it out," Gingrich said.

Pelosi confirmed Wednesday that Pelosi was simply suggesting she believed Gingrich to be unelectable.

“Any reference I would make to the Ethics Committee is confined to the public record," Pelosi said in a statement.

Pelosi made headlines in December when she said in an interview that she had information on Gingrich that would be released "when the time's right."

Her office later clarified her remarks, saying Pelosi was referring to the public record on Gingrich's 1997 ethics violation in the House, the records of which are online.

The House minority leader's name is frequently used as an attack line against Gingrich on the campaign trail, with rivals blasting the former speaker for pairing up with Pelosi in a 2008 commercial urging the country to "take action" on climate change.

Gingrich has repeatedly described the commercial as "the dumbest" move he's made in recent years.

"judge a candidate by where he is today" OK, today Newt is an evil-looking fatman on his third wife, running for president by insulting people instead of demonstrating any presidential qualities. And that's what his FRIENDS are saying about him.

Insider trading Pelosi says she has something on Newt. I too call B! S!. Too bad insider trading isn't illegal for our ELECTED member of Congress, whereby they can increase their net wealth by 45% in one years (2010) like Nancy girl did.

What's in your fat head Newt other than an obsession for so-called family values issues? Obviously you have a lot of baggage so don't be judging others. After your bout as Speaker of the House, you lost a lot of credibility going after Clinton while having an affair or two. So please give it a rest.

I love Nancy Pelosi and if you bothered to look at her leadership record in Congress and ignore the usual Republican lies about everyone they are terrified of – you would find her to be an outstanding, ethical, and highly effective leader. Boehner has passed less than 80 bills in 2 years. Pelosi had control of her Democratic Majority and they actually WORKED for the People. She could pass 100 bills a week and there were no Boehner-created vacations of 1 week off for evey 2 worked for Congress. Talk about do-nothing obstructionists. We need to clean the House of ALL Republicans and let Nancy show them how real leadership is done!

Read this carefully between the lines. I think he's saying that San Francisco is a weird place that he doesn't like. Hey Newt....heard any good stereotypes lately? He's typical of many insular and arrogant people that seem to permeate the Republican Party these days, especially among the leadership. I hear it often. If you don't, just listen closer.

I'm no fan of either Gingrich or Pelosi. They spent way, way too much time in Congress and its obviously affected their thinking and reasoning.

    Gingrich is..well, Gingrich :)

Pelosi is slowly losing it. "I know something"? Really? "I know something you don't know" is apparently the best we can get out of Pelosi these days.

Both of them need to go away...and quickly!

I know this the country did a heck a lot better under Gingrich than Pelosi. He may be a little off sometines and even unelectable but he is was not outright inept at his job as speaker as was Pelosi. I know my wife says she dresses well and that is about ther nicest thing I have ever heard anyone say about her here in the south.
