Gingrich: Pelosi lives in land of 'strange fantasies'

(CNN) – The feud between two former House speakers continued Wednesday, with Newt Gingrich pushing back against Nancy Pelosi's claims that Gingrich "will never" win the White House.

"She lives in a San Francisco environment of very strange fantasies and very strange understandings of reality," Gingrich said on NBC's "Today." "I have no idea what's in Nancy Pelosi's head."

The House minority leader strongly insisted Tuesday night on CNN's "John King, USA" that Gingrich could never become president, saying he's done "plenty of dumb things."

"There's something I know, the Republicans, if they chose to nominate him, that's their prerogative. I don't even think that's going to happen," Pelosi warned.

Her comments set off a firestorm of speculation over whether Pelosi was implying she knew something about the candidate that could potentially damage his candidacy. The inflection in her voice, however, indicated she felt strongly that Gingrich was not qualified for the Oval Office.

Asked Wednesday morning about the interview, Gingrich said if Pelosi was hiding something she should name it.

"I have a simple challenge: Spit it out," Gingrich said.

Pelosi confirmed Wednesday that Pelosi was simply suggesting she believed Gingrich to be unelectable.

“Any reference I would make to the Ethics Committee is confined to the public record," Pelosi said in a statement.

Pelosi made headlines in December when she said in an interview that she had information on Gingrich that would be released "when the time's right."

Her office later clarified her remarks, saying Pelosi was referring to the public record on Gingrich's 1997 ethics violation in the House, the records of which are online.

The House minority leader's name is frequently used as an attack line against Gingrich on the campaign trail, with rivals blasting the former speaker for pairing up with Pelosi in a 2008 commercial urging the country to "take action" on climate change.

Gingrich has repeatedly described the commercial as "the dumbest" move he's made in recent years.

Pelosi and the Democrats do not want to face Gingrich in the fall, since they can't use the Romneycare argument and since they can't use the Bain loan stripping scandal against him, nor the smell of Swiss bank accounts and Cayman Islands tax havens arguments.
DEMOCRATS KNOW THAT IF ROMNEY IS THE NOMINEE, THE REPUBLICANS WON'T HAVE A PRAYER IN NOVEMBER!

After Pelosi I doubt the House will have another lady speaker for another 50 years. She crippled the economy and the womans movement.

@TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH, Everything you have said is so far out in space that you will not be back to earth until after the election. I really didn't think they would let you on a computer in the phyco ward.

After South Carolina, Newt thinks he's bullet proof. So have a lot of men that eventually crash and burn. If he ends up being the GOP's nominee, look for a landslide in the next election. Better set up your election headquarters in Columbia Newt. it'll be the only place where you feel the love.

All of you Newt defenders absolutely astound me. Has our country gone so far down into the pits that you would want adulterers (both Newt & Callista), a disgraced former Speaker and someone who spins the past to create his own reality as our leader? Honestly though I blame the system for even allowing him to run since he was booted out of Congress. All you that claim the moral high ground seem to be the worst and most hypocritcal. I know because I have a relative who thinks Newt is the greatest thing since sliced bread and says that God forgives him so should everyone else. I guess that means we shouldn't concern ourselves with the Ten Commandments as, no matter what we choose to do in our lives, God will forgive. It is just so mind boggling!

Newt's a funny guy, just don't take anything he says seriously and you learn to enjoy his musings. He'll never be anything other than a paid speaker/lobbyist so don't stress out over his inconsequential claims.

Truth wrote – “You know.... I REALLY hadn't missed seeing Pelosi's ugly face on the Ticker.” Yet another example of your immature intellect. Please tell us again how this is all about policy for you.

Someone on here thinks that San Francisco is the place of fruits, nuts, and flakes. You are wrong, San Francisco is a great city with lots of great people, and anythng you and your hero Newt has to say about it or Nancy Pelosi is so much "flakes". If Newt had half of what Pelosi brings to America he wouldln't know what to do with it.

Old man Newt better tread lightly when referring to Nancy. She seems to have the goods on him and can't wait to unleash them if he gets the GOP nominee.

Newt Gingrich is completely amoral, a man with no conscience whatsoever. He will say and do whatever gets him what he wants, which is POWER. Of course he doesn't know what's in Pelosi's head. People without a conscience can't understand people who have one. Sociopaths routinely report not understanding what all that talk of "morality" is all about, or just assuming everyone is just like them and just makes up talk about what's right and wrong.
