Gingrich: Pelosi lives in land of 'strange fantasies'

(CNN) – The feud between two former House speakers continued Wednesday, with Newt Gingrich pushing back against Nancy Pelosi's claims that Gingrich "will never" win the White House.

"She lives in a San Francisco environment of very strange fantasies and very strange understandings of reality," Gingrich said on NBC's "Today." "I have no idea what's in Nancy Pelosi's head."

The House minority leader strongly insisted Tuesday night on CNN's "John King, USA" that Gingrich could never become president, saying he's done "plenty of dumb things."

"There's something I know, the Republicans, if they chose to nominate him, that's their prerogative. I don't even think that's going to happen," Pelosi warned.

Her comments set off a firestorm of speculation over whether Pelosi was implying she knew something about the candidate that could potentially damage his candidacy. The inflection in her voice, however, indicated she felt strongly that Gingrich was not qualified for the Oval Office.

Asked Wednesday morning about the interview, Gingrich said if Pelosi was hiding something she should name it.

"I have a simple challenge: Spit it out," Gingrich said.

Pelosi confirmed Wednesday that Pelosi was simply suggesting she believed Gingrich to be unelectable.

“Any reference I would make to the Ethics Committee is confined to the public record," Pelosi said in a statement.

Pelosi made headlines in December when she said in an interview that she had information on Gingrich that would be released "when the time's right."

Her office later clarified her remarks, saying Pelosi was referring to the public record on Gingrich's 1997 ethics violation in the House, the records of which are online.

The House minority leader's name is frequently used as an attack line against Gingrich on the campaign trail, with rivals blasting the former speaker for pairing up with Pelosi in a 2008 commercial urging the country to "take action" on climate change.

Gingrich has repeatedly described the commercial as "the dumbest" move he's made in recent years.

Newt wants to talk about fantasy land, he made the comment I think it was yesterday before the State of The Union address saying that gas prices have doubled since the Obama administration took office. I don't know where he has been for the last 10 yrs. but in Bush's last 4 yrs I can remember paying around $4.25 gal. for gas and in the first two years that the Democrats controlled everything, where I live gas never went above $3.00 gal. but the very week that the Republicans got the house back gas went to over $3.00 gal. and has stayed there ever since.
This is what I beleive, Obama said he was going to crack down on all the spectulators running the prices up, with the Democrats in control of everything they calmed down, as soon as the Republican special interest party for the BIG OIL
COMPANIES got control of Congress they knew that the Republicans would not support a bill to reign in the oil company's and speculators (SPECIAL INTEREST) so then the games with oil & gas started again.

Is Newt implying Nancy isn't completely there Long gone are the days, Newtie, when you could call a woman unbalanced if you didn't like her ideas.

  5. Newt taught a class on Environmental Studies

Gingrich calls the "Climate Change" ad "the dumbest thing he did" along with a growing number of "mistakes"....But he taught a class in Environmental Studies while he was a professor, and climate change would be dear to his heart. Since conservative voters are "anti-environment", a story on that could pull the foundation out from under him.

Newt knows that Nancy Pelosi can and will reveal specifics of his unethical behavior as Speaker. She will show the insider's view of why he was hammered by both Democrats and Republicans. Newt found Jesus... he found him in a high-dollar jewelry store where Newt was blowing his lobbyist money...

If palosi spews out anything when she and Speaker Gingrich were in office, she will be violating the ethics code. She is just trying to scare the former speaker, it won't work and has nothing on him.

He's just ticked off because she took his job and, in fact, continues to serve because she, unlike him, doesn't have ethics issues that have forced her to leave her post.

Whatever. Newt is an arrogant, self-rightous know-nothing with zero character and even less credibility. Go ahead and nominate him. Obama will mop the floor with him and any Republican with a measureable IQ knows this.

Anyone that thinks Newt would come even close to winning the general election is in a complete fantasy land. He is an anchor around the GOP's neck and many know it. That's why they are not endorsing him.....at least for now. If he does get the nod (not likely) these two–faced clowns will all of a sudden love him

    Neutered

Newt Needs to be 'NEUTERED'. He is simply too wild to be our president. He chases women's frock tail too much and if he becomes president we can guarantee that he will bring shame to the white house and our great country.

Can't we imagine Newt in the white house surrounded by these beautiful ladies who have to be looking over their shoulders to see if he's stalking them? He has no respect for women, no respect for marriage and no respect for himself.

Why does he argue with Nancy Pelosi...going toe to toe with her? This says a lot about him. He argues like a woman.

He needs to be a 'neutered' Newt!

It amazes me how quickly people have forgotten the hole we have been trying to get out from under for the past three years. Not only economically but with Bin Laden in our faces, etc., etc. Do we really want Newt or Romney in office? Be careful what you wish for.

@ ChumBucket: "To all of you who think pelosi is going to "tell all" no she won't, because then somone might decide to "tell all" about her."

Nancy has got nothing to lose (she is not running for Office – her loony-toon constituents will vote for anyway), Newt has got the whole general election for the Republican Party to lose (if he is the nominee). It just goes to show how volatile and how risky Newt's nomination really is. Democrats are salivating at the prospect of having Newt as the Republican nominee because their win in general election is guaranteed.

I've been wrong before, because I never thought Florida voters would elect Rick Scott with all his baggage. However, I would be shocked if the Republicans nominated Gingrich recognizing the depth of the ethics violations he committed. Republicans forced him to resign because of these violations, would they really make Gingrich their candidate for the President of the United States of America? I would love to hear from others on my thoughts.

newt thrives on the lime light. Look at the stink he has made about not being able to applaud during debates. When asked a question he puffs up and yells but actually gives no clear response. He is a lier lobbiest and a cheat who now has found religion. At least untill the next big money deal comes along. If he does not get the nomination lets see where he goes to make money. He is no match for the president even if he thinks so. He is an intelectual in his own mind. He would never have been able to habdle the raid that went on during the state of the union. He is not calm and clear when he answers question all though he has been trying to act more statemen like this past week. right.

The guy who thinks our politically moderate 50-year-old Hawaiian-born President is actually a militant Kenyan anti-colonialist from the 1950s claims somebody else lives in a land of strange fantasies and very strange understandings of reality? In that case I guess from Newt's perspective 300 million Americans are suffering from delusions because we can't figure out how the hell Newt ever imagined he was fit in any way, shape or form to be President.
