Gingrich: Pelosi lives in land of 'strange fantasies'

(CNN) – The feud between two former House speakers continued Wednesday, with Newt Gingrich pushing back against Nancy Pelosi's claims that Gingrich "will never" win the White House.

"She lives in a San Francisco environment of very strange fantasies and very strange understandings of reality," Gingrich said on NBC's "Today." "I have no idea what's in Nancy Pelosi's head."

The House minority leader strongly insisted Tuesday night on CNN's "John King, USA" that Gingrich could never become president, saying he's done "plenty of dumb things."

"There's something I know, the Republicans, if they chose to nominate him, that's their prerogative. I don't even think that's going to happen," Pelosi warned.

Her comments set off a firestorm of speculation over whether Pelosi was implying she knew something about the candidate that could potentially damage his candidacy. The inflection in her voice, however, indicated she felt strongly that Gingrich was not qualified for the Oval Office.

Asked Wednesday morning about the interview, Gingrich said if Pelosi was hiding something she should name it.

"I have a simple challenge: Spit it out," Gingrich said.

Pelosi confirmed Wednesday that Pelosi was simply suggesting she believed Gingrich to be unelectable.

“Any reference I would make to the Ethics Committee is confined to the public record," Pelosi said in a statement.

Pelosi made headlines in December when she said in an interview that she had information on Gingrich that would be released "when the time's right."

Her office later clarified her remarks, saying Pelosi was referring to the public record on Gingrich's 1997 ethics violation in the House, the records of which are online.

The House minority leader's name is frequently used as an attack line against Gingrich on the campaign trail, with rivals blasting the former speaker for pairing up with Pelosi in a 2008 commercial urging the country to "take action" on climate change.

Gingrich has repeatedly described the commercial as "the dumbest" move he's made in recent years.

I would take someone who lives in a fantasy world any day over a hate mongrel. If, and that is a big if, if this man became President, the current divide would double. For those who like to refer to this as a liberal news page, go to Fox since apparently you like one sided coverage of news and fantasy reporting of the untruths. Liberal news stands for reporting all sides of the issue. Conservative news means reporting only what you think the right should or want to hear.

Wow, even though she clarified she isn't referring to any secret knowledge and the ethics report is already posted online – therefore there is no 'double secret' ethics report – it's impossible to contain any negative belief about people.

There will always be some who think Obama was born in Kenya and some who think Pelosi has another ethics report she's keeping secret 'just in case'.

The jokes on you, Gingrich has had 5 wives – kept 2 a secret all this time, nanny nanny boo boo.

    Nancy, SHUT UP!

You should be doing EVERYTHING you can to encourage Speaker Gingrich to STAY in the race and possibly become the nominee.

    One year: 1964.

San Francisco Bay area: a melting pot with great culture and renowned academic centers - no wonder why it's beyond Gingrich's comprehension and something that is only fantasy in his mind. Get with the times Newtie, it's real

Jo, we have the Senate Minority leader threatening to make the president a on-termer, code for killing anything that he tries to do: what's your point then?

TtownSports, its apparent that you hve preconceived notions as well. Newt is playing the victim, something conservatives do frequently ebcause they can't gain traction with their arguments, such as they are. By the way, Newt has not changed: its just the rest of the conservative movement ahs caught up to him in terms of sheer bile.

To allow someone as morally corrupt as Newt, to even 'think' of being President is an outrage. The GOP has been slinging their ex crement for years at every indiscretion they aren't part of, let them wallow in it now. Obama is looking more and more like a Saint compared to the buffoons being offered up to challenge.

Newt, if you're going to be president, you're president of ALL THE PEOPLE, even in the nation's largest state, California. Only a bigot would write off a whole city. Would it help if San Francisco flew a Confederate flag?

The reactionaries of right wing talk radio spend nearly all day complaining and she has been a favorite target for several years. When one makes the statement that a Republicans is being critical of Nancy Pelosi, you might as well accuse them of breathing as they all seem to do it without any thought.

Newt is a hipacritical liar! GOP voters should be ashamed to have even considered him for POTUS! 70 ethics violations, impeaching Clinton while cheating on his wife, and creating the politics of fear and divisiveness. To vote for this man is to ware his discraseful ways like a badge of dishonor.

  15. The Something Nancy Pelosi knows....

Is likely the same thing that is blatantly obvious to everyone: That Newt Gingrich has a high liklihood of having Narcissistic Pesonality Disorder.... that he responds very poorly to power... and that if given the presidency, this sick individual is going to lead us off a cliff.

Isn't Capitol Hill unto itself a "strange fantasy"? It certainly bears no resemblance to reality as I know it. Thus, I must presume Newt is one of Pelosi's neighbors ...

I'm by no means a fan of Gingrich, but for Pelosi to suggest she knows something damning about someone who can be our future President is irresponsible and disgusting. She should put out everything she knows now, not when it's politically convenient.
