Palin decries GOP 'cannibalism,' defends Gingrich

(CNN) – She may not be publicly endorsing a candidate for president, but Sarah Palin clearly has a favorite in the ongoing campaign feud between Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich.

In a post on her Facebook page Friday, the former Alaska governor praised Gingrich's Ronald Reagan connections, while questioning Romney's conservative credentials. Ultimately, Palin said the GOP establishment backing Romney were "cannibals" for attempting to discredit Gingrich.

"I am in favor of contested primaries and healthy, pointed debate," Palin wrote. "They help focus candidates and the electorate. I have fought in tough and heated contested primaries myself. But what we have seen in Florida this week is beyond the pale."

Palin, whose husband Todd endorsed Gingrich earlier this month, said tactics used against the former House speaker were reminiscent of attacks against her during her vice presidential bid in 2008.

"The difference in 2008 was that I was largely unknown to the American public, so they had no way of differentiating between the lies and the truth," Palin said. "All of it came at them at once as 'facts' about me. But Newt Gingrich is known to us – both the good and the bad."

Gingrich's relationship with Nancy Reagan, along with an endorsement from Reagan's son Michael, should speak to the former speaker's record as a conservative, Palin argued.

"There are no two greater keepers of the Reagan legacy than Nancy and Michael Reagan," Palin wrote. "What we saw with this ridiculous opposition dump on Newt was nothing short of Stalin-esque re-writing of history."

Borrowing one of Gingrich's favorite campaign lines, Palin said the mainstream pillorying of Gingrich was "Alinsky tactics at their worst," referencing the radical community organizer Saul Alinsky, who Gingrich namedrops frequently on the stump

Palin boiled down the race to a tug-of-war between mainstream Republicans backing Romney, and grassroots activists unwilling to fall in line behind the establishment pick.

"I respect Governor Romney and his success," Palin wrote. "But there are serious concerns about his record and whether as a politician he consistently applied conservative principles and how this impacts the agenda moving forward. The questions need answers now. That is why this primary should not be rushed to an end. We need to vet this."

Palin ended months of speculation in October when she announced she wasn't seeking the GOP presidential nomination. Political observers have been looking for an endorsement from the former governor ever since, but have thus far been left hanging.

"How many people have defeated the republican establishment (in Alaska) and then defeated Exxon (oil giant) by forcing them to share profits with alaskan citizens."

Considering the oil revenue sharing was established in 1976 – this pertains to Palin, how?

Didn't read the article and I was going to write "who gives a crap what Spalin says but others have already written that. She's trying to maintain her money tree. Sarah, time to get a real job. Soon you will be like Walter Mondale or James Stockdale. Relevant only because someone else made you relevant.

Did anyone hear that a congressional hearing is taking place because Sarah Palin gave away 500 million dollars that was not the property of the State of Alaska? Or that her lap dog Sean Parnell had a check cut for England to pick up in Canada by the new royal couple? Or that she is under investigations for tampering with evidence? or murder of the Commish of Revenue? or that she is being wire-tapped by the government to trace calls and activites? nothing like a federal protologist to give her a tast of her own medicine. Check out MudFlats.com for the TRUTHS about her!

Palin will not get in front of a microphone and take questions about her rant. Does anyone think she ever read anything that Saul Alinsky wrote or said? "Stalinesque?" Hah! For someone so poorly read Alaska's favorite half-term governor has to plagarize the speeches of others in order to name drop. Why doesn't she go ahead and join the Kardashians. Fame, name, and no substance...

So lets see, Palin does not like the attacks on Gingrich....well lets see if he was not a serial liar and cheater....a disgraced speaker of the house....in the pocket of Fannie Mae as a "historian.." .....a dead beat dad whose church had to take up a collection to take care of his first wife and kids because he FAILED to be a man.....let see Sarah, maybe those attacks and what you call attempts to discredit Newt would not be happening. He is not a man of integrity. His attempt to run as a values and evangelical candidate is a joke..... To support him only shows a lack of intelligence. A Gingrich presidency would be a disaster and would make us a joke in the eyes of the world for voting in a lying clown like him.

"Rick Dove" – I have no hate for Sarah Palin, or anyone else. I merely see Ms. Palin as an opportunistic parasite who would (and has) sold her family for attention and money. Further, I see her as a functionally-illiterate, socio and geographical illiterate. Finally, I see her as woefully functionally illiterate. She could not string 2 coherent sentences together if someone held a gun to her head.

This is not hatred – it is objective observation and rational thought.

Sarah Palin is a carboard box. she has nothing to offer and nothing to gain from her words. In Washington DC there are investigations going on that are looking into the State of Alaska and the State of Washington and the State of Arizona. It would seem that Sarah and her personnel violated federal laws and the crimes will be announced. In the meantime I would encourage those effected by her and her crimes to report it to the Office of Civil Rights in Washington DC. I keep hearing that there are other matters of crimes that Sarah Palin and Sean Parnell have committed but we here in Washington DC need your help. Check out the White House website and scroll down to Office of Civil Rights and make an online report so we can investigate your complaints. Thank you. Have a nice Day!

If Newt was so important in the overall scheme of the Reagan Presidency why to most former insiders of that administration say he was totally inconsequential in the scheme of the Presidency. Reagan expressed dislike for the man, as did just about everyone else who knew and worked with him.

It's hilarious to hear Palin question anyone else's "credentials". She's famous for being infamously ignorant.

Now if she'd just fade into history, and the media would stop paying attention to her ... life would improve for the rest of us.

I think having Palin endorse Newt is just another sleezy tactic being used by Mitt to tear down Newt.
