Bill would upend new airline fare advertising rule

Washington (CNN) - A new rule requiring airlines to include government taxes and fees in their advertised price is continuing to cause turbulence in the travel industry - and a congressman said Monday he'll introduce a bill to overturn it.

Rep. Tom Graves, R-Georgia, said Monday he will introduce a bill to cancel the U.S. Department of Transportation rule, which took effect last week. The rule requires airlines to roll mandatory per-passenger taxes and fees into the advertised fare, but allows them to break down the costs elsewhere in the advertisement.

Gingrich campaign lowers Nevada and Michigan expectations

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Up against Mitt Romney’s robust campaign operation and facing a tough February slog, Newt Gingrich’s campaign is tempering expectations for two major contests and largely setting its sights on March, when a slew of southern states begin to weigh in on the presidential race.

Gingrich campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond told CNN Monday that Michigan and Nevada – two states that Romney won during his unsuccessful 2008 presidential campaign – will be difficult political terrain for the former House speaker come February.

Obama hosts Google 'hangout'

,

Washington (CNN) - While reaching out to supporters through one of the latest high-tech means, President Obama expanded his social media experience by holding a Google+ video chat room interview on Monday afternoon.

In an election year, it's probably not good politics to talk about what you look forward to doing after your time in the White House, but that's exactly what President Obama did when asked about the frustrations of living in the security bubble.

Santorum promises high road, 'We'll beat them straight up'

Cottleville, Missouri (CNN) – Rick Santorum attracted a full auditorium of more than 300 people at St. Charles Community College here this afternoon, with an overflow crowd of more than 100 more waiting to meet the former senator in a field outside the building.

On a tele-town hall Sunday night, Santorum billed the event as an address on America's failing education system, but he used much of his speech to introduce himself to Missouri voters and position himself as the candidate best-suited to take on President Obama.
