Obama wants to simply use the tax system to implement his class warfare. A FAIR tax system would NOT be giving free rides to 47% of the taxpayers. EVERYBODY should be contributing to the defense of this country. All of Obama's tax changes attempt to further confiscate money from those evil rich people in order to give others a free ride.

He's also very good at targeting certain businesses for more and more taxation while ignoring others. Those companies that fit well into his "green agenda" are fine, others like oil get targetted and demonized. The LAST thing this country needs is a federal government that picks winners and losers in the market place and uses their political ideology to target businesses for oneroius tax treatment.

Of course, Republicans constantly misrepresent the actual facts. They say Pres. Obama has raised taxes. He raised taxes on cigarrettes and tanning salons. He lost a fight to keep a tax break, which means Republicans fought to raise taxes.

It was Republicans who first proposed and instituted the progressive tax policies that allow many people to pay no federal income taxes. These same progressive proposals also gave you lower capital gains rates than what you would pay for earned income. You cannot have your cake and eat it, too.

Your argument that everyone should contribute to this country is short sighted. Guess which economic group provides the most volunteers for our military? Now guess which economic group contributes the least.

So just what is Obama's plan to cut spending??? Even taxing the evil rich won't balance the budget. What is Obama going to CUT??? Why isn't he being asked THAT question??? Or is he just going to keep raising taxes to maintain the size of the massive federal bureacracy and the enormous government entitlment state it supports? I fear the latter to be the truth.

In his own words out stumping after the SOTU address, Obama stated that he "wanted to raise taxes on the wealthy so he could lower taxes on the middle class and poor".

How populist of him... but if that is not redistributive, tell me what is.

    Bush created this class warfare.
    The GOPers keep it going.
When will America vote out the GOP and their obstructionist agenda to destroy America?

Republicans are in complete denial of the facts that it was their party who was in charge enacting policies that drove our economy into the ditch, and stained our reputation around the world with cowboy diplomacy. The rest of the world was so glad that the American people voted Republicans out of the White House and the Congress that they gave American voters a Nobel Peace Prize and Pres. Obama accepted it for us.

Have you looked at the Ryan Plan? What about Mitt Romney's tax plan? Gingrich's plan? All of them give generous tax cuts to the wealthy and raise rates and fees on people at the poor end of the scale. How typical of them.

It always amazes when the GOP/TP talks about patriotism and love of country; but when it comes to paying for the necessary costs of running a good government for the people and by the people, they run and hide. They only stand in line when they can milk the system and make gigantic profits from practices like no bid contracts.
    President Obama 2012!

President Obama is attempting to stop "Aparthied" in this country before there is no longer a middle class and the Republicans want you to believe he's using class warfare and creating socialism which is no more than fear tactics. Read about "Aparthied" and stop these Republicans because it doesn't make any difference whether you are Republican or Democrat, the only difference is being rich or poor.

Short-thinking people decry the fact that 47% of the people arent paying income tax. Do you not realize that is because 47% of the people dont make enough money to make collecting those taxes worth the effort? Or that collecting the tax from that 47% of the people will only raise the gross revenue by ~3%?

Now if you want to alk about what is fair, let's look at people like Mitt Romney who are pullin in $20+ Million and only paying 15% on it. I make a LOT less, and pay a much higher rate. In what way is THAT fair? The Buh-Zillions that Mitt has sitting in the Caymans or a Swiss vault isnt creating ANY jobs.

I call BS on this whole idea that cutting taxes on the rich is somehow helping the rest of us, or even the 47% at the bottom, still waiting for the so-called 'job creators' to put their money where their mouth is... Total BS.

Mitt's $20 + million is from activities which already independently create jobs and help the economy. So if you take the money that you have earned and invest it, you too can get taxed 15% on the money you make on that investment.
15% is a bargain for the country. We need more people taking their money and investing it. That's what will grow our economy. You might say $20 million is a lot of income from investment but he has been very successful and what's wrong with that? Nothing. He should be proud of that success and the rest of us should hope more people do the same. It will help us all.

Have you ever stopped ranting long enough to simply listen? Obama has offered massive cuts in entitlements if the Republicans would offer realively small increases in tax rates for the wealthy. The Republicans would not compromise. I'll point out to you some facts – the Bush tax cuts, the Bush wars, and the lack of supervision of the housing industry is what got us in to this mess. President Obama's spending was to try and get us out of the mess. Is that too hard for you to understand? What did Republicans offer to solve the problem of a looming depression – one so severe we might never recover?

The minute Pres.Obama got into office he raised the cigarette tax by more than $1, he raised the gasoline tax, now who is paying the most for those items, HINT: it's not the rich.
He also forgets to tell the American people that TAXES will increase drasticly Jan. 1, 2013 wonder why he made sure it will be AFTER the elections.
