Gingrich: Romney campaign is 'pathetic'

Fort Myers, Florida (CNN) – Newt Gingrich took his latest swing at Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney on Monday, calling his opponent's campaign "pathetic" and grousing loudly about the negative tone of the race.

Campaigning in Fort Myers on the eve of the Florida primary – his fourth stop on a statewide fly-around - Gingrich took the stage in a parking lot at the local airport to address several hundred supporters, many of whom had been waiting in a pleasant breeze for nearly two hours to see the candidate.

Axelrod's tweet worse than his bite

(CNN) - One of President Barack Obama's top campaign officials took a not-so-veiled jab at Mitt Romney Monday, tweeting a photo of the president riding in the presidential limousine with his Portuguese Water Dog Bo.

"How loving owners transport their dogs," Axelrod wrote, taking an apparent stab at Mitt Romney, whose own experience transporting pets has become fodder for rival candidates and newspaper columnists.

BLITZER’S BLOG: The importance of debates

(CNN) – Because I’ve now moderated three of them, I know it will sound self-serving when I say I’ve really enjoyed watching all the Republican presidential debates. There have been about 20 so far, and they have been informative. Like the millions of Americans who’ve watched them on television, I’ve learned a great deal about the candidates. They’ve been really instrumental in shaping public attitudes.

Millions and millions of Americans who’ve watched the debates are now better-informed voters.

Carney throws RNC's ship captain analogy overboard

(CNN) - A top Republican's comparison of President Barack Obama to the captain of the ill-fated Costa Concordia this weekend ran aground Monday with the White House as it was sharply denounced by Press Secretary Jay Carney.

"If you are so desperate for attention that you make an analogy that Michael Steele deems inappropriate, you know you have probably gone too far," Carney said in the White House press briefing.
