Bachman pulls in $1.7 million in fourth quarter

(CNN) - Former presidential candidate Michele Bachmann raised more than $1.7 million in the final three months of 2011 and finished the year with nearly $360,000 in the bank, her now-suspended campaign announced Tuesday.

The Minnesota congresswoman, who ended her presidential bid on Jan. 4 after a disappointing sixth place finish in the Iowa caucuses, will run for re-election to keep her seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Gingrich denies knowledge of 'kosher' robocall

(CNN) – Newt Gingrich denied any knowledge of a robocall put out by his campaign Tuesday claiming rival Mitt Romney refused to fund kosher food for Holocaust survivors during his time as Massachusetts governor.

Gingrich's campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond confirmed the calls were going out statewide in Florida Tuesday. The call's claim that Romney vetoed a bill providing kosher meals to nursing home residents during his time as governor first arose Monday, when Gingrich cited a report from the New York Post.

Gingrich expands debate threat

(CNN) - For much of the election cycle, Newt Gingrich has been challenging President Barack Obama to Lincoln-Douglas style debates, modeled after the long philosophical discussions between Abraham Lincoln and his opponent Stephen Douglas in 1858.

The Republican White House hopeful took his proposal a step further on Monday, saying he would not accept a debate moderated by reporters should he win the nomination and campaign against Obama in the fall.

Huntsman's dad gave big money to his super PAC

(CNN) – Jon Huntsman Sr., the billionaire chemical magnate whose son dropped out of the 2012 GOP presidential race earlier this month, donated more than $1.8 million to a super PAC supporting his son's candidacy, according to documents filed Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission.

That accounts for 70% of the super PAC's total fundraising. The organization, Our Destiny PAC, raised a total of $2.7 million during the 2012 campaign cycle, much of which was used to fund advertisements in New Hampshire.
