Good news on jobs is bad news for GOP

Washington (CNN) - That loud noise you heard Friday morning? Cheers from the White House and President Barack Obama's campaign headquarters in Chicago.

Employers created 243,000 jobs in January, according to Friday's Labor Department report. The unemployment rate dropped from 8.5% to 8.3% - the lowest level since February 2009. Unemployment has now dropped for five months in a row.

Amazing to watch the Republicans downplay good news and push for failure. It's actually beyond sad – it's scary.

Have to listen how talk radio they will completely dismiss the news or say i the economy is getting better because the private sector is looking forward to a new Republican president.

The numbers would look even better if you didn't have these radical TEApublican governors cutting public sector jobs. Regardless, 5 straight months the unemployment rate has dropped. That indicates to me and anyone with half a brain that the economy is moving in the right direction.

The only thing the Republicans want to do is win back the White House at the expense of the American people. They don’t care about middle class and poor people. They’ve done nothing but obstruct any hope for improving the lives of those Americans who work hard and deserve it the most.

Note to low income Whites who vote Republican. The GOP CARES NOTHING for you. Never have. Never will.

OK, so Obama is running against a "do nothing Congress" yet jobs are increasing slightly? So WashingtonDC not doing anything is allowing the economy to recover and create jobs! Yes, this is EXACTLY what Republicans have been saying for YEARS. Once the American people put the brakes on Obama and a runaway Democrat Congress, the economy started improving.

And if you want MUCH MORE improvement, elect even more Republicans and the economy (you know, those evil businesses!) will improve DRAMATICALLY.

After giving a trillion dollars to the corrupt union bosses, and 3 to 4 million people giving up completely looking for jobs, lots of investors being discouraged by the tax policies, the unemployment rate is finally on 3 tenths of a percent above what Obama said it would never get here if spent all of that money. And the democrat liberal drug addicts go crazy. Unbelievable. It would really be good if the CNN Political Fact Checker would do a story on this but then they would have to knock the most incompetent, inept, corrupt, union toady president we have ever had and we know they woudl never do that.

Well, the Republicans can hopefully take a little solace in the thought that they have the Somali pirate vote locked up.

The sad thing is that we would have much higher and faster recovery if GOP would not stop everything in Washington.

I wonder how many Republicans cringed when they heard this months numbers. It must be sad to be in the position of rooting against America. The unemployment rate is down 8 tenths of a percent in only 5 months and 1.3% from the peak in October 2009, when the stimulus finally stopped the monthly job losses. The GOP plan to prevent economic recovery so they could achieve THEIR (not America's) number one priority of "making Barack Obama a one-term President" is in jeopardy.

They can't give the President credit for anything positive and are quick to blame him for everything that is bad, even if it means rewriting history by blaming him for things that happened before he took office, like the housing market collapse. It's sad. Conservative politicians and talking heads, like some of the posters on this site (that means you Truth, Fair, and Four), are simply pathetic.

    UH OH!

At this pace, we'll be below 8% before Memorial Day. By then, I guess we'll be back on the birth certificate stuff, since there won't be much else for Romney to run on. Or he can campaign on "fixing" the social safety net for the very poor whom he isn't very concerned about.

The caveat to all this is if Cantor & Co. manage to find a way to blow up the economy like they did last summer - a very real possibility. Expect another manufactured "debt crisis" sometime in August.

Be careful Mr. President if you keep this up-Willard won't have a platform to run on and he just might have to go back to his cult full-time.

Great job to you and your staff.

Funny. I'll bet Al Qaeda would like the GOP back in the White House, too. Obama is killing them (figuratively and literally).

That heading is a sad statement on the state of affairs in this country today. What is good for working Americans is bad for one of the political parties? Really? What happened to "we're all in this together." How did we even get to this point Looks more and more like we allowed it. This is very sad, indeed.

You have to love the comments from some of the conservative brain-trusts on this board. Let me see if I have this right... Based on your idiotic comments, Obama isn't responsible for a growing economy and a lowered unemployment rate. However, if the numbers were going in the other direction, it would all be his fault. Do you people have any idea of how absolutely stupid you sound?

The economy was improving steadily before the Tea Party ever came to DC. The only change that we have seen since the Tea Party came to DC has been public sector jobs losses at the federal, state, and local levels. Curiously enough though, this trend has only manifiested itself in sectors that are controlled by Republican governers, legislatures, and politicians. The places controlled by Democrats, and the few moderate Republicans still facing extinction, have seen much better jobs growth in the both private and public sectors.

Yes, we know what Republicans have been saying for decades. But, you know what? The People have finally listened and noticed that conservative spin and hyperbole do not match the facts.

Anyone who thought that we were just going to "bounce" out of this recession is ill-informed and un-realistic. Never in the history of the U.S. has a recessive economy "bounced" back. It has always been a slow process. Although Obama, and his cabinet have tried many things, recessions they their own course in time. It's a flat lie that the GOP blames the Obama administration for the slow recovery because even if Congress had acted and passed all sorts of expensive incentives above and beyond what they already did, the damage was done in 2008 and recovery was only going to come when the smoke cleared. This recession was just like those in the past....it was fed by greed, extended by greed, and only recovers when corporations see an opportunity for more greed by hiring and expanding. That's how it works and until lobbyists are outlawed, it will continue to happen in all future recessions!!
