Santorum jabs Gingrich moon colony via satellite

Las Vegas (CNN) – Rick Santorum's presidential campaign released a radio ad Friday hitting rival candidate Newt Gingrich's proposal to develop a colony on the moon.

The minute-long spot, which will run on satellite radio, quotes Gingrich saying the United States will have a permanent base on the moon by the end of his second term and dubs the proposal "fiscal insanity."

"Reckless spending has led to a 15 trillion dollar national debt … And what does Newt Gingrich suggest? Spending half a trillion dollar on a moon colony," the ad says.

Gingrich received criticism from the comment he made last week in Florida, and Team Santorum uses it in the new spot to paint the former Pennsylvania senator as the true conservative in the 2012 race.

"Rick Santorum, he doesn't just talk a good conservative game, he lives it," the ad says.

Looks like Santorum REALLY did not like Newt's repeated requests to drop out of the race! I guess this is his not so subtle answer.

Will any GOPer accept the fact that $12 trillion of our national debt (including TARP) is due to the last three republican presidents?

Hey rick, the idea is to get Mitt out of the race. You should be standing with Newt bashing Willard. You were starting to win me over with your rhetoric at the last debate. Then I came back to my senses. As far as the moon goes, Newt can go straight there along with Alice.

I suppose he's right, but this is a smart bomb aimed at a very large bright-red barn.

Santorum had no problem with big government if it was supporting his campaign contributors in Big Pharma. It's little ... Whoever supports Rick Santorum because he says he's a conservatives needs to do their homework.

Get a real job you Bum , Santorum is a pharmstamp candidate.

Santorum is right. It is fiscal insanity. It is also blatant pandering to make such grandiose campaign promises along Florida's space coast. Does Newt actually think that people cannot see how transparent he is being?

  7. santorum is a hypocrite

Santorum wants to blast everyone else for big government b/c he wants his Koch buddies to get a big break, but he's not above promoting big government to peek into your bedrooms. He'll be promoting microchipping women to make sure they're attached to a man and pregnancy tests to make them keep the babies that he and his pope don't want to support.
