Romney campaign targets Santorum

Washington (CNN) - Mitt Romney's front-running campaign on Monday took aim at trailing rival Rick Santorum, indicating concern that the conservative Santorum might be poised for a strong showing in this week's Republican presidential contests.

The GOP hopefuls face caucuses in Minnesota and Colorado on Tuesday, along with a nonbinding primary in Missouri. On Saturday, Maine wraps up its caucuses, followed by a break until a February 22 debate on CNN and February 28 primaries in Arizona and Michigan.

Ken Buck: Colorado is a Romney vs. Santorum race

(CNN) - Ken Buck, the tea party-backed Colorado Republican who came up short in his 2010 bid to unseat Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet, has kept a low profile since that narrow one-point loss.

Buck is not endorsing a candidate in the presidential race before Tuesday's caucuses, though the campaigns of Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum both reached out.

Romney urges supporters to protest birth control rule

(CNN) – Mitt Romney on Monday became the latest GOP presidential candidate to blast the Obama administration for new rules that would force all hospitals –including those run by the Catholic church– to provide workers health insurance that covers contraception, including sterilization.

A page on Romney's website asks supporters to sign a petition protesting "the Obama administration's attacks on religious liberty," saying the new rules amounted to an assault on personal rights.

Team Romney shifts laser to Santorum

(CNN) - In a sign of Rick Santorum's potential strength, the Mitt Romney campaign focused on his opponent's record Monday, the day before three Republican presidential primary contests.

Former Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, one of the states set to vote Tuesday, was dispatched by Team Romney to criticize the former Pennsylvania senator's legislative record and poke holes in his self described conservative platform.

Santorum: Romney 'unqualified' and 'dead wrong' on healthcare

Rochester, Minnesota (CNN) - Presidential candidate Rick Santorum, hoping for some much needed momentum heading into the next round of primaries and caucuses, leveled some of his harshest criticisms yet at Mitt Romney over the issue of healthcare and the repeal of "Obamacare."

Speaking near the campus of the Mayo Clinic, Santorum said the former Massachusetts governor was "dead wrong" and "the worst possible person" to put up on what he called the "most fundamental issue" of the campaign.

Santorum campaign says it has more signatures for Indiana ballot

(CNN) - Rick Santorum's campaign said Monday an internal review had found enough valid petition signatures to challenge the former Pennsylvania senator's exclusion from the ballot in Indiana.

"We found 49 petition signers who were incorrectly rejected by Marion County board of election officials. We expect a speedy recertification. And we are confident we will be on the Indiana ballot," Santorum spokesman Hogan Gidley said.

Gingrich spokesman defends Wikipedia edits

(CNN) – As recently as last week, Newt Gingrich's communications director has been criticized by editors on Wikipedia for dozens of edits he has made and requested in defense of his candidate.

While some of the changes were minor, Joe DeSantis has removed or asked to remove factual references to Gingrich's three marriages as well as mentions of ethics charges brought against him while he served as speaker of the House. These efforts continued as recently as Monday.
