Washington (CNN) - The Alice in Wonderland state of American politics has just reached a new level.
Nancy Pelosi, the stately, serious former House speaker released a video satire Thursday going after comedian Stephen Colbert for his super PAC.

The must-watch-it-to-believe it video features the House Democratic leader narrating under black and white pictures of Colbert, saying he "used to be my friend. I even signed the poor baby's cast."
She then calls him "out of control" for taking money from special interests for his super PAC.
The kicker: with the now infamous picture of Pelosi on the couch with Newt Gingrich, Pelosi says Colbert "even used his super PAC to attack my friend Newt Gingrich."
At the end of the video, Pelosi gets to her serious point. She is promoting the so-called DISCLOSE Act, which House Democrats are reintroducing Thursday. The DISCLOSE act would among other things require more transparency by super PACs in terms of who their donors are.
A Democratic source told CNN their hope is that Colbert responds on his Comedy Central program, in order to get the issue more attention.
This is not the first time Congress has tried to draw on Colbert's popularity to highlight an issue. In September, 2010, A House committee called Colbert to testify on the plight of immigrant workers. Colbert showed up in character – a fake TV host – and the decision to invite him got mixed reviews.

I can't believe the number of people who have no understanding of satire and irony, and who still think Colbert is conservative. Hilarious.
The amazing thing is the joke is on the G.O.P. Neo-Cons; and they are too stupid to get it! This really is "Alice in Wonderland" stuff; but then again American politics has trended this way since Ronald (Bedtime for Bonzo) Reagan started taking the U.S. down this road of disaster capitalism over 30 years ago. Think that the destruction of the middle class was by some accident?! Stop drinking the koolaid people.
Come on people, Both are making a point........read between the lines. laugh , smile and think.............
Pelosi is a joke.
I have only a complaint about one omission – Nancy missed the biggest Super-PACer of all – MITT.
Nancy Pelosi shows up in Character for all 120 of the 142 days a year the U.S. House of Representative is at work. The funny thing is she is actually not aware that she is acting and neither are the fools in her district that keep reelecting her to the House every few years. If Colbert showed up so little, had such poor results and was really as clueless as the act he would be unable to stay on the air and make a living.
If you think Colbert is funny I'm sad to report you don't know what real comedy is. Hoping to laugh once in 30 minutes just isn't work the time investment. Yaaaawwwnnnnn........
Pretty hilarious how the conservatives think this is real, and that Pelosi and Newt are friends. You can sell these chumps the Brooklyn Bridge over and over and over . . .
What about the cast members of ER and/or Scrubs?
To all you brilliant observers pointing out how Pelosi is old and her face shows that age, congratulations on your sexism (since you don't seem to make the same comments about wrinkly old men like McInsane). Not only that, I'll see you one Pelosi and raise you a Jan Brewer, who has a face like a human catcher's mitt. See how stupid these comments are?
Colbert will be thanking you Pelosi for providing him material on Monday
Took long enough. If anyone hasn't caught it yet, Colbert has been trying to draw attention to the issue that super pacs give money a bigger say in elections for a long time. Now that he's baited Pelosi, (or if she is in on it, doesn't matter.) there is an official move for the goal.
