Doggie demonstrators protest Romney

(CNN) – Dogs and their owners staged a protest outside the Westminster Dog Show Tuesday in response to presidential candidate Mitt Romney once traveling with his dog in a crate on top of his car.

The story has been the subject of jokes and jabs from opponents and late night comedians. Romney, in his defense, said he put the dog in the crate because he was sick and enjoyed riding on top. CNN's Jeanne Moos reports.

Yeah, I always enjoy people calling dogs and cats their children. Some people take better care if their pets than their kids.

The only people that suck worse than Mitt, are those who support him.

I have had many dogs and cats and a strong advocate for animal rights as a vegan. But, I found this news almost disgusting. This should not be a criterion to judge a presidential candidate. Many others do similar - driving with their dogs in the back of a truck, for instance as they think dogs actually enjoy seeing outside. Plus, I am not sure if a venue for a dog show is the most qualified place to protest. I used to show my Persian cats and know exactly what cats and dog breeders are doing to get their animals grand-championship.

I hope CNN looks into a candidate's plans and visions instead. This country is in deep trouble and we need a president who can fix these messes. I am not suggesting Romney he is, but we shouldn't be distracted from looking into real issues.

The dog was sick so he put it in a crate to ride on top of his car? This man, like Letterman says, should be haunted by PETA and any animal lover out there. I take it from the flip flopper's comment that this might not have been the first time for cruelty to their dog? He enjoys it????? How did they know (does he speak doggie talk) the dog enjoyed it?
The whole party of hell no should be riding on top of vehicles minus the crates then as they are all sick and disgusting individuals.

I like Jeannie Moos, but entirely too much is being made of this story. The dog had a windshield! How is that any different than riding in the back of truck? If I had to make a choice between riding in a car with 5 boys, I'd take the roof, too. I'm afraid if it is scandal you want, you're going to have to look at Gingrich or Santorum.

CNN how many protesters were there? A dozen in a country of 300 million. Your tools for the Democrats.

I'm sure the dog had a good life and was cared for.

What I do want to know is why none of MItts five sons volunteered for military service. This Question has never been fully answered.

Did the poor sick dog tell Romney that he enjoyed riding on the top exposed to potentially dangerous situation? Or did he know through prophetic vision, as all Mormons do?

According to one report I read they only let the dog out of the cage when, because he was enjoying it so much that he defecated all over the windscreen!!

How moronic can these protesters be?! Do they ever work, don't they have anything better to do? Are they being funded by the presidents campaign, or by El Zorro; or other of the president's misguided supporters? Or worst, they are probably on the "dole" that the president continues to promote day in, day out.

I am not a Republican, but, America, PLEASE remember and get really ready for the 2012 elections.

Great – so not only was the dog in a box on top of the car – it was a sick dog! Mitt, bet you $10,000 that doesn't make people feel much better about this...

  18. Rmoney is a Greedy Old Psychopath

Cruelty to animals is a telling sign Rmoney is a stone cold psychopath. And saying the dog "liked it" is probably as accurate as his attempts to read the President's mind before making yet another outlandish claim about what the President things or believes. Does Rmoney think women "like" being raped? Flipper the Elitist Robot has a severe compassion deficit. With his utter disregard for life, he certainly shouldn't be making decisions about wars or social safety nets.
