Gingrich describes Obama as a national security risk

(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich on Tuesday stood by comments he made the previous day urging voters to defeat President Barack Obama as a "duty of national security."

Asked what he meant by his remarks, the former House speaker said the president's policies pander to Islamic countries and the federal government refuses to "talk accurately about radical Islam."

"I don't think that's very effective," he said on CBS's "This Morning." "I think it's dangerous to America."

Gingrich downplayed the recent arrest of a Moroccan man who was on his way to the U.S. Capitol with what he thought was an explosive-laden vest but instead was a fake provided by authorities as part of a sting.

But the former speaker referred to the incident as one that "barely" prevented a terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

He also chided the president for the country's limited role in the conflict in Egypt last year, arguing the U.S. should have been more involved to prove it stands by its longtime allies.

"This is an administration that no country really trusts," Gingrich said.

On Tuesday, the candidate also hit the president over what he called Obama's "outrageously anti-American energy" policies, pointing to his opposition to the Keystone pipeline and his push for more efficient cars.

"This is a president who routinely only obeys those laws he personally views fit," he said.

Gingrich made the original comments–in which he also blasted Obama as "incapable of defending the United States"– on Monday while speaking at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Gingrich is campaigning in Oklahoma again on Tuesday, two weeks before the Super Tuesday state holds its primary.

If taking out 23 out of 30 top Al-Queda leaders is pandering, I guess he's guilty of pandering. Newt's accusation is pandering to the reality-challenged.

Gingrich is really throwing things into the wind now.
Countries trust us more than than ever, and our country is more respected because we don't push ourselves on everyone the way Bush did.

Gingrich is full of BS! By President Obama's direct order, Osama bin Laden is dead; al Qaeda has been marginalized; several terrorist plots have been foiled; Somali pirates have paid the ultimate for their crimes of kidnapping; we're out of Iraq and winding down in Afghanistan; we've supported the Arab Spring without risking American lives; we're tightening the screws on Iran.

Typical Repub, that Newtsie: He and his party have no list of accomplishments to run on so they spout outrageous lies. That may work with their ignorant base, but all Democrats, Independents and thinking Americans can see right through them.

If you're looking for national security risks, Newtsie, have the stones to call out these FACTS:

    1. The incoming GW Bush administration in January 2001ignored the warnings by the Clinton team about Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda as being the #1 terrorist threat to our nation (just ask Richard Clarke; he and his team were snubbed).

    2. The GW Bush administration started strategizing on how to invade Iraq in January 2001.

    3. GW Bush ignored the August 6, 2001 President Daily Briefing that specifically stated al Qaeda was determined to attack us using airplanes. Instead, he went on vacation at his ranch in Texas.

    4. The GW Bush administration cherry-picked intelligence to support their rationale for invading Iraq. Trillions of dollars later and over 4,000 American dead and many thousand more wounded, we're finally out of Iraq (thanks to President Obama).

If you're looking for risk to our nation, Newtsie, look no further than your own party.

As you grow old, your thinking capacity dwindles. True. I request these Republican idiots to just THINK before they speak. This is the reason, Bin Laden escaped Tora Bora. This is the reason Pres. Obama ordered killing of Osama Bin Laden. This is the reason, national boarders are tightened. Please, just think and talk. Do not talk just because you have tongue. Idiots. No wonder rating for Republican party is a doom, and gloom. Hate it.

Ghe newterman soaks and continues to put foot in mouth.
So the suicide bomber at the Capitol is not a big deal? Actuslly he would have her visitors and the capitol police as congress had already left town for their week vacation.
Captain rescued from pirates killing bin laden and al wazari not a big deal?
It was egypts problem and the US responded as it should have. No troops, no guns, no lost American lives. These people are really living in a bubble like Bill Maher says. If it wasn't so darn dangerous it would be crazy, and I mean crazy, funny!!

This man is scary! There is nothing this President can do that would allow the Republicans to say anything positive about him. He has done more for national security in three years than Bush did in eight. This isn't about Obama's experience in national security or his beliefs that the world is a reality and we have to realize that and deal with it. This is about the personal hate from the right for the President. It wouldn't matter if he completely eliminated every terrorist on the planet, Gingrich, Santorum and the rest of the clown circus would say he did it wrong. Just this past weekend Michelle Bachmann was spewing this same kind of crap. When confronted with the President's successes in the taking down of Bin Laden and others, she stated "he took him too long, so he is a failure". Really? Really? No wonder they are eating their own . . . Ignorance must be bliss, if you're a Republican right now.

Newt gingrich is the voice of desperation – even more so with Rick Santorum. The apocalyptic talk borders on the ridiculous if you have any base in reality. They've got nothing so they resort to the gloom and doom fear mongering – they think voters are stupid. Their cynicism and the disdain they have for the American voter has never been more evident.

LOL! Looks like Gingrich is grasping at anything he can. The last thing a chickenhawk coward like Gingrich should be whining about is Obama and his approach to national security. Last time I checked, Obama seemed to be doing pretty well in that area.

The risk from radical Islam – a raggle-taggle of crazed tribesmen vs the largest military force the world has ever seen. Gingrich needs to get a grip. I'm surprised the Republicans are going after President Obama on defence, they don't have much of a record to defend.....

Coddling radical Islam? Is Gingrich serious? Which administration found and killed Osama bin Laden? Which administration negotiated NATO support for the revolution in Libya that took down Moammar Gadhafi? This administration has been stellar at removing the masterminds behind the 9/11 attacks AND the Lockerbie bombing (the two biggest terrorist attacks on American civilians in the past 30 years) in a single term!

This is yet another example as to why your own Party is quietly, and desperately looking for another candidate that can be seen as a more viable nominee by the electorate.
You and your other cohorts have lost what little sense of shame, gravitas, and tenous hold on reality you ever had to begin with. You deserve what you'll get in November: anazz whipping of epic, EPIC proprotions.

So, which world leaders has Gingrich talked to that say they don't trust the US? I'd like to know that one as well as which laws Obama has violated. Is Gingrich any better? The ethic charges should worry people as far as I am concerned.

Gingrich has lost, he knows it but he stays in just to do a lot of trash talking and fear mongoring, thats all the GOP has going for them, to try to scare and put fear in the minds of Americans. Santorum might be good as a Deacon for the Catholic Church but he is not President material. As a democrat if I had to vote for a Republican canidate it would be Romney, but he doesn't fit the bill for the GOP as a Christrian with his Morman Faith......as the days go by and the negative campaign goes on and the Preacher Santorum continues his Greater Than Thou speeches the futher they put themselves from winning in November.....we haven't forgoten what the New House Members supported by the Tea Party did in almost shutting down the government last year.....they are the party of NO, NO to everyone that doesn't think and believe and feel the way they do......So I will continue to support Obama 2012
