Lots at stake in first debate in nearly a month

Mesa, Arizona (CNN) – Twenty-seven days. That's how long it has been between the 19th and 20th Republican presidential debates.

But that ends Wednesday, when former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas face off at a debate hosted by CNN and the Republican Party of Arizona at the Mesa Arts Center.

America you just do not get Mitt Romney!

I am a Mormon like Mitt. IF anyone has ANY doubt about Mitt's stance on Abortion or Gay Marraige they should look at the BELIEFS of his FAITH. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints is opposed to Abortion EXCEPT in cases of INCEST, RAPE or where the Mother's life is in mortal danger. THIS is Mitt Romney's LIFELONG position.

Mormon's believe marragie is between a man and a woman. They do not support GAY MARRAIGE. Mitt Romney does not, never has....supported Gay Marraige. NOW Mormon's do not like discrimination and they do not condemn Gay People. Mormon's are also very much in favor of FREEDOM of CHOICE. Therefore, even though Mormon's view some things as immoral or sinful, they respect the rights of AGENCY given to man by his Creator to choose for himself.

Mitt Romney Did NOT Pander to the lady in this article.
By the way, those of us who REALLY know Mitt Romney realize that IF America does not choose Mitt they are missing out on one of the Greatest Most Qualifed Candidates EVER to run for President.
Mitt Romney as President of The United States would be FIRST Loyal to his Country. He is TOTALLY Trustworthy in an ERA of lying and deception by our leaders.

    Last Chance America....

This debate should be about Immigration, tax evasion and vaginal probing. We already know that the candidates have no plan for the economy or job growth.

I hope the charity-loving Santorum is asked about his LOW charitable giving during the past few years. Between 2007 through 2010, santo has donated to charity only 1.76% to 2.67% of his earnings. gingrich is another low giver–just 2.6% in 2010; whereas Romney donated 13.8% that year.

…you mean the GOP/TP “candidates” might replace their fiction with facts? To tell us what they would do instead of what they criticize?
Too late, we already know all 4 of them are not qualified and have not the faintest idea how to serve 99% of the people! To work for the further enrichment of just 1% is not a good program for the country!

    President Obama 2012!!

Imagine that. One whole month and the airwaves are still intact!
Do these idiots really have anything else to say except what they have been spewing forth since day one. Lies, hates, half truth, sharia law a la christian, etc., etc.

  6. The Greedy Old PIgs declared class war on US!

"If he can't refocus this debate on Romney and the economy, Santorum will marginalize himself as fringe candidate with no real chance to beat Obama in the general election."

Rmoney already gave up that line of attack yesterday when he came out and matched Mr. Frothy's ridiculous talking point about the President's "secular agenda." Given that the government is Constitutionally required to have a secular agenda, Flipper the Elitist Robot has painted himself into the same insane anti-American radical rightwing religious extremist corner as Mr. Frothy.

It is becoming now or never time for Paul and Gingrich. Both need strong debate performances, especially Paul. I know it is not going to happen, but metaphorically speaking I would love to see Paul just "go Yoda" on his opponents. I want to know what this guy is really about besides cutting government.

He has not put out a jobs plan, at all. His "less is best" philosophy seems naive when you look around the world at the societies that operate that way. What you see is this, the smaller the relative size of the government, the more oppressive the government has to be just to keep total anarchy at bay. What's even troubling to observe is that the smaller the relative size of the government, the more impovershed the people are. How does he plan to avoid those trends? You can't.

Actually........unless CNN does a heck of a lot better job, of asking meaningful questions, vs. "gotcha" questions, of the candidates, it will bring us NOTHING new, at all.

In the last CNN debate, Wolf Blitzer's questions were nothing but "gotcha" questions, which told us absolutely nothing new about ANY of the candidates.

Try and ask something we really want to know for a change, please!

Make them give SPECIFIC answers to these questions: 1. Would you support a Constitutional admendment to prevent children born in the US of parents who are not citizens of the US from automatically attaining citizen status? 2. Do you believe the Earth to be less than 6000 years old? 3. Do support a mandatory requirement for the vaginal ultra-sound procedure for every woman before she has an abortion? 4. Do you believe that the burning of fossil fuels substantially impacts global climate change? 5. Would you support removal of the cap placed on income for deductions to Social Security?
