The Detroit News endorses Romney

(CNN) – The Detroit News, one of the largest newspapers in Mitt Romney's native state of Michigan, endorsed the Republican presidential candidate on Wednesday, just days before the state's critical primary.

"Mitt Romney stands alone among the Republican primary field as the candidate capable of winning the White House, and more importantly, of leading the nation to a prosperous future," the editorial read.

Hollywood star announced as Obama campaign national co-chair

(CNN) - The Obama campaign announced its national co-chairs Wednesday, and one Hollywood star made the list. "Desperate Housewives" actress Eva Longoria will be one of the 35 national leaders of the campaign.

The star, who has visited the White House on several occasions and been an active supporter of President Barack Obama, joins a group that includes mostly politicians and business leaders.

New Poll: All knotted up in Michigan

Mesa, Arizona (CNN) - Six days before crucial Republican presidential primaries in Michigan and Arizona, new polls indicate it's all tied up in Michigan between Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum, with Romney leading Santorum in Arizona.

According to an NBC News-Marist survey released Wednesday morning, 37% of people likely to vote in Michigan's Republican presidential primary say they are backing former Massachusetts Gov. Romney, with 35% supporting former Sen. Santorum of Pennsylvania. Romney's two-point advantage is well within the poll's sampling error. The survey indicates that 13% are backing Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, with 8% supporting former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Indiana lawmaker: Girl Scouts in league with Planned Parenthood

(CNN) - An Indiana lawmaker who opposes celebrating the centennial anniversary of the Girl Scouts of America says the group "sexualizes" young girls, promotes homosexuality and is a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood.

In a letter sent to members of the Republican Caucus, Indiana State Rep. Bob Morris said many parents were "abandoning the Girl Scouts because they promote homosexual lifestyles."

Support from men and evangelicals boosts Santorum nationally

(CNN) - A poll released Wednesday showed Rick Santorum maintaining his lead nationwide among likely Republican voters, topping his closest rival Mitt Romney by a margin of nine percentage points.

The poll from Quinnipiac University showed Santorum with the backing of 35% of registered Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, compared to 26% for Romney. The two other candidates in the race, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Texas Rep. Ron Paul, were at 14% and 11%, respectively.

Obama to offer corporate tax reform plan

Washington (CNN) - The Treasury Department will unveil President Barack Obama's corporate tax reform plan Wednesday - a framework that would reduce the overall rate paid by corporations, a senior administration official told CNN.

The President's tax plan is intended to "enhance American competitiveness by simplifying the tax code and eliminating dozens of tax loopholes and subsidies, incentivizing job creation and investment here at home and lowering the business rate while broadening the tax base," the official said.
