(CNN) - A new wrinkle emerged Thursday in the autobiography of a rising Republican star: Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, was once a Mormon. Rubio, a Cuban-American who has played up his Catholic roots on the campaign trail and today attends Catholic churches as well as a Southern Baptist megachurch, was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a young boy.
Rubio's attendance in the church was little-known and made a splash when details of a forthcoming memoir were reported Thursday by the Miami Herald and the website BuzzFeed.

Beyond that though, Catolic, to Baptist and back to Catholic? True , born again believers will not "cotton" to such political expendiency. Nor will they be convinced that Rubio has recieved God`s call and accepted him as Lord & Savior.
As far a nationwide politics in the xenophobic Republican Party, Mr. Rubio is DONE. He`l be relegated to Florida elections only or he`ll have to join the Democrats to acsend higher.

It's time to enforce the separation of church and state. I'm tired of hearing about catholics, mormens, muslims, and other extremist religious groups. Religion has no place in politics. It belongs in the church/temple,mosque, etc., and in the home. Religiously speaking, the only thing we should care about a candidate is that he/she is honest, fair and behaves decently toward others. If you want to call this behavior, Christian, go ahead, that's your opinion. I just call it being a good person. We need more of those in politics and fewer right-wing religious nuts who want to force their beliefs on everyone else, which sounds like fanaticism to me.
Rubio flip-flops on religion as much as Willard does on politics–perfect VP pick if Romney can seal the deal for the nomination.

As a Christian, I become more disgusted with each passing day as the right wing Rep. extremists "profess" to be such devoted Christians. They have apparently ripped out many pages of their Bibles. I hear more unChristian remarks coming out of their mouths daily. OBSERVE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE!!! Display your faith in the way you live your life and treat your fellow man.

really to me a person's religion or non religion should not be a big deal. Yet we have some that think if you're something other than Christian you are somehow not worthy of the highest office in the land. Heck at one time the White Anglo-Saxon Protestant bunch aka WASP didn't even want somebody like Santorum in office because he's a Catholic and they considered them to be idol worshipers. But now all of a sudden being Catholic is alright if you're going against the "evil Muslim" Obama to get him out of office. Religion and politics do not make good bedfellows and I doubt if they ever will.
