(CNN) - It's hard to believe but American taxpayers are still shelling out $2 billion a week in Afghanistan. That adds up to more than $100 billion a year.
Maintaining a U.S. military presence in Afghanistan of nearly 100,000 U.S. troops is certainly not cheap.

It doesn't matter when we leave because the outcome is going to be the same. I think the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, or some other Islamic fundamentalist group will take over in Afghanistan sooner or later. The longer we stay, the more we continue to bankrupt ourselves like the Soviet Union and the British Empire before us.
What's harder to believe is that with all the combined aid, we still haven't reached the Afghani people. It has been 10 years. The ones who are continuing to fight us were 10 or 12 years old when we started this battle.
The answer is simple, If republicans want us to be there, they should pay their fair share of taxes, and volunteer to serve several tours of duty there. Since that won't happen the answer is, "No, bring our soldiers home!"
Quick answer: Not now, not ever.
We should pull most of our troops out and just use drones.
At this point pull everybody out and leave the crazy muslims to kill each other. It seems that is all they are really interested in doing anyways. No matter what we do or say to these idiots we will always be the invading infidel killing muslims. Leave them with a final letter though that should they or AQ threaten us from Afghanistan, that we will not return in person to deal with them, but will have an endless supply of bombs and missiles to ruin their days for a long time. Choose your path wisely Afghans.
CNN I absolutely HATE your new format with the numbers!!! Whose idea was this?
Good Question Wolf – We should do like we've done in Syria – let them fight each other, til the last person stands. We should not be the Police for every country or any 3rd world country out there. We have enough problems here on our Own Soil. I've always thought IF all the middle eastern nations fight each other / blow up everybody & their neoghbor / while blowing theirselves up in the process, think about it for a minute. The end result would be : there would be plenty of room for a homeland for whomever it is, that says they don't have one. In other words, with less population, there would not be any fights for land.

NO – we should pull OUT, as quick and smooth as we can. And bring our troops Home.
Our economy is on the rebounch so we have to find a way to help the Afghanistan economy so the people stop fighting amonst themself and go back to work and help themself.
@Truth ... "Choose your path wisely Afghans."
It's interesting that you should think Afgans care what you think. Even more interesting is that CNN has allowed you to take control of what was an otherwise innocuous comment board and turn it into nothing more than hate and name calling to satisfy your childish need for attention.

Your worthless content free drivel on this board continues unabated. Yawn.....
Hopefully Afghanistan serves as an example as to why we should never meddle in Muslim affairs. Let the Arab League deal with them or let them destroy themselves. The people don't want Arab Spring, freedom or democracy, they have made their beds, leave them to it. Concentration on our own country and let the world solve their own problems.
It is time to leave. Afghanistan has spoken. Either they make it or they won't, pouring more money or troops in will not fix anything after 10 years.
our ecomony is on the rebound..... bwahahaha thats funny right there... in 2001 the dow was trading at 12000 gold was trading at 200 an ounce today the dow is at 12000 gold is at 1750... is gold harder to find or is inflation upon us.... it seems to me the sheep wont wake up until a loaf of bread costs an entire days wage or worse... to be honest with you we deserve the coming economic callapse maybe it will force us as a society to wake up and fix our problems or maybe we will try and perfect the coming zimbabwe school of currency destruction...
