Santorum camp: Michigan's a tie

(CNN) – Armed with a new delegate count, a Rick Santorum adviser on Wednesday painted Tuesday's contests as a "disaster" for Mitt Romney.

John Brabender said the campaign's count proves Santorum and Romney are tied in delegates won, which he said means the state should be classified as a split-decision instead of a win for Romney, who captured the popular vote.

DNC defends Obama on Israel ahead of AIPAC

Washington (CNN) - This may be a first. Ahead of the AIPAC meeting in Washington this weekend, the Democratic National Committee is pre-butting any Republican attacks on the President's position on Israel.

They're doing so by sending the Jewish press, activists and the general media a video featuring Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying in May of 2011, "President Obama spoke about his ironclad commitment to Israel's security. He rightly said that our security cooperation is unprecedented and he has backed those words with deeds."

Romney: All economy, all the time

Toledo, Ohio (CNN) – Crediting his economic know-how with helping sway voters in Michigan and Arizona, Mitt Romney targeted his stump speech Wednesday to Ohio voters by focusing solely on jobs and the economy.

Romney told the audience he was pleased by his pair of Tuesday night primary wins, which he said came in part from voters worried about the economy.

Veteran California Republican announces retirement

(CNN) - California Republican Rep. David Dreier, one of the longest-serving Republicans in the House, announced Wednesday that he will retire at the end of the year.

The veteran lawmaker's decision to retire after nearly 32 years in the chamber was expected because California's redistricting process left him essentially without a House seat to represent. He is the seventh Golden State House member to opt not to run due to the new map that redrew Congressional districts across the state.

Romney 'won by enough,' but is that all that matters?

Novi, Michigan (CNN) - As Mitt Romney admitted, they may not have been his prettiest wins.

"We didn't win by a lot - but we won by enough, and that's all that counts," he said Tuesday night after victories in the Michigan and Arizona primaries.

Paul ad target rivals, including Romney, in Washington state

(CNN) – Ron Paul announced Wednesday he was launching television ads in Washington state and Vermont, two states he hopes will give him his first win in the 2012 GOP nominating process.

The 60 second spot running in Washington slams his rivals as uniformly non-conservative, and includes a scathing critique of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who Paul has largely ignored in his attacks during the 2012 election season.

RNC chair says primary process still good for party

(CNN) – The chairman of the Republican National Committee said Wednesday a prolonged GOP primary would only strengthen his party, and maintained the bitter battle between the four current candidates would be ancient history by the general election.

“I feel good about this," RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said on CNN’s “Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien.”

He continued, “I know that people argue over whether, you know, having a tough primary is a good thing or a bad thing. I just happen to believe that it's good for a party, as you and I have talked about many times.”
