Limbaugh apologizes for ‘slut’ comment

(CNN) - Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh apologized Saturday for calling Sandra Fluke a "slut" this week after the Georgetown law student advocated for contraception coverage in a Democratic hearing.

“My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir,” Limbaugh said in a statement on his website. “I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.”

Limbaugh made the original comments Wednesday, in which he also suggested Fluke wanted taxpayers to pay for her to have sex.

"What does it say about the college co-ed [Sandra] Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says she must be paid to have sex?" Limbaugh asked. "What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She's having so much sex she can't afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex."

His remarks set off a major outcry, prompting top Republicans and Democrats alike to denounce the famed talk show host.

President Barack Obama called Fluke on Friday to offer his support, while Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum labeled the comments as “absurd” and Ron Paul described them as “crude.” Mitt Romney said Limbaugh's words were "not the language I would have used."

But Limbaugh repeated his comments during his show on Thursday and Friday, even taking them further to suggest that women who accept free contraception should film themselves having sex so taxpayers could watch.

In his apology Saturday, Limbaugh said he disagrees with the notion that contraceptives should be covered under federally backed health insurance plans, saying he finds it “absurd” that Americans are “discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress” and argued taxpayers should not “pay for these social activities.”

But Limbaugh admitted Saturday his choice of words referring to Fluke were “wrong.”

“For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.”

Probably the most insincere "apology" anyone was ever forced to make. He probably had to up his drugs to work up the courage to eat crow. I sure hope the prenup money his latest wife will get will make it will make it worth it to live with this creep.

Ooops I hit you on the head with a shovel....I'm sorry.

It is hard to believe his tyraid as being an attempt at humor. It was utter vitriol. The fat windbag's apology was driven by the loss of advertising.

Rush Limbaugh apologized after four sponsors severed ties with his radio show. That's nice. Of course, I think it's interesting that the lengthy second paragraph in his written statement is nothing more than ridiculous attempt to exonerate his misogynistic comments by elucidating the motive that compelled him to make his remarks in the first place. Truth be told, his apology is about as "heartfelt" as the 'please' and 'thank you' a parent might coax from a child whose eyes are fixed on a cookie. Make no mistake: the man "apologized" out of necessity; not genuine concern for the hurt he caused Sandra Fluke and the other women he insulted.

So, when Mike Steels called out Limbaugh, Steels had to apologize to Limbaugh and now when speaker Boehner went against Limbaugh, Limbaugh apologized. And the GOP wonders why they are not popular with the minorities.

The only reason he apologized is because he is feeling it in his wallet!

The advertisers are finally pulling the plug on this blowhard.

Trump should call him, apology not accepted-you're fired!

So let me get this straight. This lard tank doesn't apologize for four days, supposedly standing on some sick principle. But when his commercial sponsors start abandoning ship like a bunch of drowned rats he shows up hat in had. Some principles. Guys a joke.

This conversation needs to stop. Even if everyone was self insured the money they pay for premiums all goes to the same pot that the insurance company pulls from to cover claims. And no insurance company will ever not offer this coverage as it would not be a smart business move. Just get over it folks; contraception is here to stay.

A good apology would be to send her $3,000 worth of condoms in order to get her through the next three years. He can afford the freight bill on that big of a package. Make it a variety pack of different brands so she can't come back and say what she got was boring.

So, are we to assume that Mr. Limbaugh's conscience is firmly in the same place that he keeps his wallet, since this apology occurred only after he lost advertisers?

If republicans want their party back the first step they need to take is to get rid of Rush Limbaugh. He has made your party into mess of bigotry, hate, and ignorance. He has convinced you that other people, no different than you(democrats) are the enemy. He has brought out the worst in people to make money and in the process has demeaned the politic process and made your party into a group of hate filled misogynistic morons who believe every word that comes out of his uneducated mouth. Before Limbaugh dems and reps did not always agree on things, but they didn't hate each other. They did not believe that the other side unpatriotic and out to kill the Country as we know it. He actually has convinced millions of people to believe this. Your party shivers in fear every time this man opens his mouth. Wake up people and find a real leader within your party. One who doesn't hate and one who doesn't worship the almighty dollar.

limbaugh should resign over his malicious comments. his comments were designed to hurt and humiliate, not to mention they were degrading. he has proven himself to be irresponsible and will do anything, at the expense of anyone, to boost his ratings.
