Tea party not settled on any one candidate

(CNN) - Ask different tea party volunteers in the days before Super Tuesday who the leading presidential candidate is and you will get different answers.

Rick Santorum has a lot of support in our unscientific polls, said Mark West of the Chattanooga, Tennessee, Tea Party.

  1. vote the Tea Party OUT in 2012

can we REALLY take somebody that goes out in public looking like this seriously? We saw what happened in 2010 with the great Tea Party take over of the House......Congress approval rating has sunk to an all time low of 11%. Some of these folks did have decent ideas about ending unneeded spending and taxes on the American people, they just went overboard and found out they can talk big talk but can not govern worth a crap. Allen West and his ilk need to be unemployed come January 2013.

Who gives a flip what the tea party has to say....They are a detriment to this country! Haven't they done enough damage with the crap they pulled this last year?

So? The republicans are split - part republican and part "tea party" -- and the tea party is split even further into 5 or 6 groups (all funded by different wealthy donors with different agendas).

    Talk about NOT SETTLED.

The Tea Party MUST complete its mission, to remove fiscally irresponsible Democrats from public office. They have proven over and over they are unwilling to cut government spending and intend to bankrupt this country. We cannot and MUST NOT let that happen. Obamacare has proven the Democrats and Obama are willing to trample on YOUR freedoms as well as your religious freedoms to accomplish their transformation of America. STOP THEM in 2012, just as you did in 2010!

The TEA Party started off with good intentions, but has now be hijacked by a collection of right wing RINOs trying to take control of the Republican Party so they can dictate their vision for rule of law however they see fit.

Free markets and democracy do NOT always mix. If there is a totally unregulated market, it inevitably results in a few people having a disproportionate amount of wealth and power concetrated in their hands: does that sound like a democratic republic to you? The ignorance of the Tea Party movement is beyond belief.

The TEA Party is a pretty useless appendage for the Republican Party now. They don't seem to support any one candidate, and they may constitute the bulk of Santorum's candidacy. Given how radical his platform is, this isn't good for the GOP.

Good that the Tea Party does not throw their support to any of the contenders. They sent a bunch of people (including Boehner) to congress who have totally done nothing. It will be a big disaster if they can get involved in choosing the nominee.

  10. Republican who supports President Obama

Let's find a time machine or TARDIS for the TEA party supports and send them back in time. If they want to experience what it was like back then let's give it to them – one-way. After we ship them off then our country can focus on the here and now.

Time for progress and movement forward. Not backwards.

Could we PLEASE include the fiscally irresponsible Republicans in that list too? After all, EVERY Republican controlled Congress since the Reagan administration has increased the deficit by record amounts (up until the current occupant). Remember "read my lips" HW? Then taxes went up. Remember TARP and 2 recent (completely unnecessary) wars?
If ONLY you comment applied ONLY to the Dem's I might agree with you for once!

    Uh, nice hat.

Since the "Tea Party" is really just the conservative base under a different name, I imagine that their true preference is Santorum. But they know that Santorum will get destroyed in the general, and so they'll inevitably drift with misgivings toward Romney. Republicans always fall in line.

This is the reality of the Tea Party: they are clowns, who took a serious issue and perverted it into a platform for the usual social conservative garbage that runs counter to freedom. Run them out, they are a spent force.

The Tea Party folks are some crazy people. I find it vexing how the Tea Party were able to take over the House of Representatives. They love to say we need to take our country back. To what? and how should it look?

the tea party represents the lower class followers of the republican party, who followed the message given by their previous candidates, and only listened to the "feel good" points that sounded like the speech given in a Jimmy Stewart movie. Every single point that they attempt to make that is "wrong with America" and "wrong with Obama" has already been done, legislated, or proposed by the same party they've been blindly following. The saddest part of all of this is, that in the last 36 months, these people JUST found out that Reagan raised taxes numerous times, sold weapon systems to Iran, and gave amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. Every sign they waved proudly has been done by the same party they are blindly following. Had you been serious about spending and freedoms as you proclaim, then you would have been formed years ago. You didn't, you believed what you were told, and know you choosing to still believe in the same individuals who created this mess in the first place.

If you believe in the version that you hear on talk radio, blogs, and cable news stations, then your destined to fall for their tricks everytime. You wasted you hard earned dollars on assault rifles and ammo, gold, emergency food, Carbonite, bottled tea (I still can't believe that one), and thousands of books.

Anyone who actually believed in Palin, Bachmann, Cain, Boehner probably voted for W twice, and more than likely purchased the above wares.........yet your not brainwashed......hilarious.

Where was the Tea in 2003?

  21. Joe from CT, not Lieberman

I loved the comment about Gingrich attempting to manipulate the Tea Party movement for his own benefit. Isn't that exactly what the Koch Brothers have been trying to do with their spokes puppet, Sarah? Also, like others have said, if the Tea Party is all about Fiscal Responsibility, where were they in 2001 and 2002 when Dubya cut taxes but not programs, and started two wars without including them in his budgets? Where were they when we went from a Treasury surplus under the last Democrat to be President to a deficit within three years of Dubya taking office?

Tea Party: intellectually and morally lazy people who blind lash out at what they perceive as a " loss of their liberties", but can't even describe in detail what those lost liberties are, or even agree on what they are.
