(CNN) – Campaign ad spending in Alabama and Mississippi (where voters will cast ballots Tuesday) through Thursday afternoon, according to a Republican ad buyer unaffiliated with a campaign or super PAC:

Romney: A film critic?

Jackson, Mississippi (CNN) - GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney offered a few suggestions Friday to the director of a new film about President Barack Obama.

"I'll tell ya, I've got a long list of people for that producer to talk to," Romney told an audience at a farmers' market in Jackson, Mississippi. "And if someone's looking for things that the president's done wrong, it's a long, long, long list."

South Carolina Lt. Gov. resigns amid ethics charges

(CNN) - South Carolina Lt. Gov. Ken Ard announced Friday he was resigning after an investigation by the Palmetto State's ethics commission found that he misused campaign funds.

The inquiry centered upon whether or not Ard used funds allocated to his 2010 political campaign for personal items, including clothing, electronics and personal travel.

Obama's Harvard Law professor challenged U.S. racism

Washington (CNN) - When Derrick Bell was a young lawyer in the Department of Justice's new Civil Rights Division in the late 1950s, his supervisor told him to drop his membership in the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Bell refused, and soon saw his caseload reduced and desk moved into the hallway. Eventually he resigned.

Latest 2012 battle: Guam

(CNN) – The Pacific island of Guam is nearly 8,000 miles from Mitt Romney's campaign headquarters in Boston, but in the scrap for 2012 delegates no distance seems too far.

On Thursday, Romney's campaign announced they were sending the candidate's son Matt to Guam and Saipan, in the Northern Mariana Islands, where Republicans will hold caucuses on Saturday.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) - The economy added 227,000 jobs in February, but the unemployment rate didn't change at all.

Poll: Gingrich on top in Mississippi

(CNN) – Newt Gingrich is edging out his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination in Mississippi, according to a new poll.

The American Research Group survey of likely Republican primary voters released Friday showed Gingrich with 35% support, followed by Mitt Romney with 31%, Rick Santorum with 20% and Ron Paul with 7%.

Loudly Catholic Santorum loses Ohio Catholics

(CNN) – Rick Santorum, a conservative Catholic who is outspoken about faith-based issues, lost Catholic voters by a wide margin in Ohio on Tuesday, potentially a key factor that allowed Mitt Romney to squeak out the narrowest of victories overall in the state.

According to CNN's exit polls, Romney took 43% of Ohio Catholics on Super Tuesday, compared to 31% for Rick Santorum, and Romney beat Santorum overall by 38% to 37%.

Obama heads to Texas to raise campaign cash

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama heads to Texas Friday to raise money for his re-election bid.

The president will be the main attraction at two fundraisers in Houston. According to a Democratic official, more than 600 people will attend the first event, at Union Station at Minute Maid Park, with tickets starting at $500.

RNC raises $11.3 million in February

(CNN) - The Republican National Committee reported raising $11.3 million in February, a number they said would help them beat President Barack Obama in the upcoming general election fight.

The RNC noted they had $26.5 million cash on hand, and had taken in $5.8 million in donations from major benefactors since the beginning of 2012.
