Trump: Candidates should quit for Romney

(CNN) – For their decision to remain in the 2012 presidential election, Mitt Romney supporter Donald Trump called the other Republican candidates "disgraceful."

The real estate mogul said it is time for Republicans to unite around the eventual nominee Romney to avoid aiding President Barack Obama's re-election.

"If they're good Republicans they're going to say, 'Look, we've got to beat Obama, lets get together,'" Trump said Monday on Fox News. "Somebody has to get together and end this thing because now it's getting tiresome and people are not liking it. The only one liking it is Obama."

Trump, who flirted with his own presidential bid earlier in the year, pushed back against recent Santorum wins.

"He's not winning … he's not going to win and it's just not going to happen," Trump said, after pointing to his 2006 Pennsylvania Senate loss. "At a certain point you have to get behind a person and you have to start going after Obama, not each other. And what Republicans are doing is disgraceful."

He acknowledged the energizing component of a primary battle but said the process should end now.

"Romney's going to win, and I think it's now time for us to focus on Obama, which we're not doing," Trump said.

Why doe't trump drop out of the publics eye. The guy is nothing but an egotistical, arragant blow hart. He couldn't get elected to anything.

How did Mitt manage to miss Vietnam if he is 65 today, everyone I went to college with in 1969 was on their way. Or did he get out because he was in France trying to convert people to Mormonism instead of protecting the country he says he wants to serve. It is true that our recent Presidents have not had Military careers, but he should at least tell us how he managed not to fight.

@"Jan – I may not admire Donald Trump....but he is right. He knows how to win and succeed and this country needs Romney to get us out of this economic mess. Despite what you hear otherwise, Romney has high ethics and if you vote for him and he is elected you will not regret it. It will give you hope for the future which we are lacking at this time. It will help us all have the prosperity this country once knew. It will restore dignity with Ann as the first lady, to the white house. I have met Mitt personally and he is very genuine. Let's face it, if he didn't care about this nation and where it is headed, he could just go off and enjoy his money and keep on making it for himself. Instead he wants the nation as a whole to prosper and become once again the number one country in the world economically and militarily. He's the only candidate who has the know how to get us there. He was not in congress like all the others who helped get our nation into all the debt we owe as a country. He is a no non-sense leader with integrity. Vote for him. He is the hope of the future."
Sounds great.. but there's a few MINOR roadblocks... Mitt has made his money by selling off AMERICAN companies, breaking them up and offshoring their jobs. .IOW – profitting by KILLING AMERICAN JOBS! Is that what you want for prosperity in the US?
Are you saying that Michelle Obama has no diginity?
He may be "genuine", but PLEASE explain how the extra $4.3 TRILLION – yes! TRILLION – in deficit spending his economic programs are expected to cost in Year #1 of his Presidency are going to help reduce the deficit.
And.. how exactly does he plan to repeal Obamacare (or should I say Romneycare) without a GOP Controlled Congress, as Presidents have NO AUTHORITY to introduce or repeal Legislation. That is the sole domain of Congress.
And – with comments like yours – we wonder why we are where we are... ???

I am no fan of Trump at all, but he might have a good qualification for making this case - he was sort of in the race in the past, has the hugest ego, and still decided not to run for whatever reason, which I however don't think is a gracious, but a more calculating one. If Santorum stays at the rase too long and Repub eventually loses the general election, people might blame on him, which is not good for him if he wants to run again for the future.

He's absolutely right. It's absurd that Santorum won't just walk. He CAN'T beat Obama. At least Romney stands a chance...

The GOP party, the true Wizards of Oz...each a circus act, each a carnival barker, just an illusion, pretending to know all, and knowing very little, telling us not to look behind the big green, (money), curtain to see them controlling the leavers, see them for what they truly are, riding around on hot air, telling us what to do, sending us to fight their
greatest enemy, because they are too big a coward to fight themselves, belittling us, our parents, if we show fear, the thought of losing our own lives, they promise us greatness and in the end give us nothing we did not already have...yes the GOP is the party of the Wizards of Oz

Don't know why the media hasn't made much mention yet. I guess it would be too much of a world embarassment for it to come out that the president of the US, really shouldn't have been elgible to run. Can you imagine what the rest of the world would say?
Think, Troy. If it came out that Barack Obama should not have elibible to run for POTUS, who would actually come out of that revelation looking bad? Who would actually be directly at fault for not catching the error before now? The people who would be at fault would be the commissioners who ran the Presidential Election Commision in 2008, all of whom were hand picked and selected by the George W. Bush administration.

Which brings up the most ironic and ridiculous part over this entire birther conspiracy. If it were true that someone unlawful and illegal slipped between the cracks and became POTUS, it would be the Republican Party's fault. The Bush adminsitration oversaw and conducted the entire 2008 presidential election. Didn't you realize that?

"Romney's going to win, and I think it's now time for us to focus on Obama, which we're not doing," Trump said.
This is the whole problem with the Republican base... their mantra. Beat Obama... at the cost of the country, OUR COUNTRY. That's all it's been about since "We're going to see to it that Obama is a one term President". NOT, we're going to see to it that America is getting better... for all of us, NOT just the GOP. They're so focused on beat Obama that they'll stop at nothing.
It's way beyond time to help make America more wise, richer, healthier and leaner. It's time for the GOP to remember it's For the People... not for the Party.

Was their any other primary where when someone had less than half the votes required for the nomination, so many people were calling for the other candidates to drop out?

It seems to me that the GOP powers that be are desperately afraid of a brokered convention come August.

Trump's recurring method seems to be to pick a side, then continually bash the other people who don't fit your model.

It's amazing that Trump is willing to support the guy who did more for shipping American jobs overseas than just about any other candidate in history.

Why is that every time Trump utters some useless nonsense he winds up on CNN's "Political" Ticker. He's not a politician. He is however an egomaniac, and you keep adding fuel to his fire. We don't care what Donald Trump thinks. The only thing I want to hear about Trump, see actually, is someone lift that thing off his head and snap a photo.
