Romney goes on the air in Illinois; Santorum in Louisiana

Atlanta (CNN) – Mitt Romney's campaign is looking ahead to a big upcoming contest. Tuesday it purchased almost one million dollars of ad time in Illinois, according to the latest ad tracking numbers.

Romney's campaign bought more than $800,000 of broadcast time for ads beginning to air Wednesday with most of the buy concentrated in the Chicago market, according to a Republican media consultant not associated with a campaign or super PAC. It also purchased $135,000 in cable time throughout the state.

The super PAC supporting Romney now also has put in more money in Illinois, which votes on March 20th.

Restore Our Future, which was already on the air there, is now investing more by buying almost $1.5 million in additional ad time. That will bring its total investment in the state to almost $2.5 million.

Rick Santorum and his allies are focusing a lot of their attention on Louisiana, which doesn't vote until March 24th.

Santorum's campaign has bought almost $31,000 in cable time there. The super PAC backing him earlier Tuesday announced it was going up with $260,000 worth of ads beginning Wednesday.

The pro-Romney Restore Our Future has bought almost $450,000 worth of time in Louisiana.

Will Illinois be subjected to $15 million in negative ads from Romney, as we were in Florida?

I dont think so wire mitt has it in the bag. Repubs so stupid they are electing the stiff that lost to the last stiff. The fact that they have given this country the worst president in recent american history Bush 2 and now the worst field of canidates in american politics. Mama Bush is like a thousand year old and she said that this is the worst republican field she has ever seen and she is robo calling for romney. That is sad. My fear is our president wont fire back at these clowns. The gas price issue is killing him in the polls. He need to pull the same crap bush did call the prince. NOW

Willard's got millions to spend destroying his opponents. No, Willard's not the GOP favorite, though the GOP establishment really wants Willard to win!

His unfavorable rating is pretty high among the GOP primary voters.

  4. The REAL Truth

The real PROBLEM is that the POTUS has absolutely no control over the price of gas, but it sure is wonderful "spin" to give the rights dumb "faithful" something to get upset about. What's reality got to do with a circus. Bring on MORE clowns!! LOL

Once again it is good to see so many Dems chiming in on the person that will beat Obama. The thing people have to understand is the Super PACs are the ones running the most negative ads (every candidate including Obama has one) not the candidates themselves. Romney has already won the general election based on all the Dems responding to this article. It's like IndpendentMom wrote, "His unfavorable rating is pretty high among the GOP primary voters" what about the other three? Also the Dems fear the fact Romney is winning and will continue to win all the way. Sorry Obama is a weak leader and you cannot fix that overnight. Obama has been given three year to show some kind of leadership but he continues to fail. With that the majority of Americans want him gone. That is a bigger unfavorable rating then Romney has.
