Obama: Election 'make-or-break moment' for America

Chicago (CNN) – Kicking off a five-stop fundraising blitz in his hometown of Chicago on Friday, President Barack Obama contrasted his policies with those of the Republican presidential candidates, declaring to a ballroom of supporters that November's election will mark a "make-or-break moment" for America.

"They have a simple philosophy: We are better off when everybody is left on their own, when everybody writes their own rules," the president said of his GOP opponents without identifying them by name. "They are wrong."

A right wingnut posted that Obama is responsible for $6 trillion of our national debt. If Bush's last year is included, republican presidents are responsible for $12 trillion of our debt. Our current debt is a $15.5 trillion (that includes my tax refund I got yesterday) so it is more republican lies.

Freedom and Equality do not fit into the aristocratic world view. By definiton, you cannot be an aristocrat without a social divide that puts the aristocrat above the commoners. Such a society is not the democratic republic the Founders envisioned.

Well, in his first term Obama and the Democrats have shredded the Constitution with their Obamacare mandate and the destruction of religious freedom in this country.

Obama and the Democrats believe the Constitution gives them the right to force you to buy whatever it deems is in the best interest of the collective.

Obama and the Democrats believe the Constitution gives them the right to force religious organizations to violate their core beliefs. Fderal government mandates take precidence over your religious beliefs.

Given another term, what elses will the leftist dictator in the Whitehouse dictate to the masses?

I don't want to hear about past accomplishments, I don't want to hear about why I shouldn't vote for the other person, and I definitely will not pay one red cent to hear a speech.. I want to hear about what the plans are for the future of our country and what they plan to do. So far, the only thing that both Democrats and Republicans have been able to do is point the finger at the other and blame them.

So did anybody hear that Obamacare will now cost TWICE what they claimed it would? Another $1.8 TRILLION over 10 yearswe will have to borrow!! It's actually more than that which we will all find out after its too late and its bankrupted the country.

Another 4 years of Obama means Obamacare wreaks havoc on our healthcare system and budget.

Where do you dig this crapola up? There were rich and poor in the Colonies. If the Founding Fathers wanted to take all of the rich landowners land and money and hand it out, they would have been shot as common thieves. Which is exactly what socialists are.

Excuse me, but you're wrong. The government already makes you go out and purchase stuff. Don't you wear any clothes?

I fully agree with you. There is no need to hear how a person voted, what a person has done and so on and so forth.
This does not help anyone. It has passed. Whether it helped us or didn't that is not what we are looking for. If all the problems were solved that could be fine. BUT they are still existing. We really need to hear what a person has in mind to do for us and make our lives at least look much better!

obviously after finding out how much Reagan, HW, and W spent, and subtracting that from 16 trillion makes others turn their attacks to freedom of religion and contraception. How about being able to build a place of worship where you want, and being forced to have a vaginal probe, yeah, lets talk about that.

Nope, didn't hear that. I heard that it was another Hannity investigative exclusive. Did you know that Mitt Romney's tax cuts would force us to borrow nearly $6 trillion over the next 10 years? Newt and Rick have even bigger numbers. Ron Paul's figures cannot be calculated because the economy ends in financial Armeggedon before the first year is up.

Sure Republicans believe more in the power of the individual in determination of their own lives ( like uh, pretty much as the Founding Fathers had intended?!?! ), but not to the extreme that Obama is suggesting. I mean really, do you go to this guy for an explanation of conservative philosophies? Hardly.

One thing is for sure though. The government has limits to it's appropriate role in society. It is not as Obama sees it the grande facilitator of lives where everything we work for goes to the government and everything we need we get from the government. This is America. You want a better life? Work for it. Take risks. Failure is not the opposite of success. It is a stepping stone. People respond really well to open opportunity and incentive. That's what made America great. We see where too big of a government takes us. For one, $16 trillion in debt even though now we have the highest corporate tax rates of developed countries and by far the largest economy. To have this level of debt, it is clear the government spending has run away from the rest of the country. We can do better. Romney 2012.

Myviewis, why should I and other Americans who have medical insurance be forced to pick up the tab for your medical care? I WISH the IRS would fine and garnish $$$ to pay for the medical expenses of those who choose to be deadbeats. Perhaps if you weren't using the ER as your primary care physician, the medical facility & staff involved in my recent orthopaedic surgery wouldn't be billing my insurance company $35,000+ – for a detached ligament on my thumb!

Truth and Nothing But the Truth....the high school you graduated from just called to say two things:

    1) Fiction is not fact. You are entitled to your fiction, but serious intelligent arguments require facts. You succeed with fiction, but failed to submit the facts to back up your argument.

    2) We want our diploma back.

If the Founding Fathers had wanted to take all of the land and money from the poor, and hand it over to the rich, they would have had a revolution on their hands, and then they would have been shot as common thieves. It works both ways.

ST, if what someone did in the past doesn't matter to you, then you must have no problem with restoring voting rights to felons who have paid their debt to society, right? What someone did in the past does matter.

Less than Obama. So in our nation's current situation buried in debt as we are, it would be foolish to vote for any one of them. Obama's the only one who's name will be on the ballot. Clear choice? Romney 2012!

Unfortunately the President is correct. The recent votes to deny people the right to vote unless they show proper identification is outrageous. Unless you drive a car you would not have any identification. Even a military ID cannot be used because the ID does not name a state of residence.

We are going back to the late 50's, 40's, etc. when people found ways to deny people the right to vote. It is shameful and certainly is nothing to brag about. How we can criticize other nations when we do not respect our neighbors right here in the USA.

Truth, you have the right to your opinions but let me tell you mine.

Last year my 20 year old almost died and was hospitalized. Had it not been for "Obamacare" as you call it – he would be starting out in life facing $50,000 of debt on his credit report. I am truly glad and thankful that I was able to add him to my policy and only have to pay a $250.00 deductible. So before you people yell I should thank you, I DO work and I don't have a problem paying more. This will be his first time voting in an election and I don't think you have to guess who he will be voting for. Not only did he receive excellent care he has been inspired to join the medical field. Success story ALL around.

Can you IMAGINE the havoc that Obama and the Democrats would have brought upon this country had they been able to force their Cap & Trade BS on the country?!! The whole purpose of that farce was to DRIVE UP the cost of fossil fuels! And guess what we have now? SKyrocketing fossil fuel prices. Any wonder why Obama doesn't do anything about them? HE LIKES THEM! Of course, he just wanted to leave them to explode upon a future president, not himself. Just like the Democrats did with the sub-prime mortgage fiasco. They bury the financial timebombs for others to step on.
