Health care message wars heat up on anniversary of law

Washington (CNN) – Two years after President Barack Obama signed health care reform legislation - and with the U.S. Supreme Court about to consider a challenge from several states trying to overturn it - supporters and opponents of the controversial law are gearing up for a message war like it's 2009.

At that time, Democrats, emboldened by a new president and big gains in Congress, pushed sweeping legislation to expand coverage for uninsured Americans, clashing with Republicans who branded the bill "Obamacare" and warned it would trigger an unprecedented intrusion by Washington into people's medical decisions. Raucous crowds at town halls across the country that summer, many focusing on health care, captured the intensity of the debate. When Democrats muscled the final version of the bill through the House of Representatives in a late-night vote, not one Republican voted for it.

Don't let the GOP have any insurance coverage while the rest of us do.

See? Simple way to solve the GOP problem.

I'm really uncomfortable that Clarence Thomas would not recuse himself. This guy has made personal financial
gains from this Bill, by virtue of his wife's being paid to advocate against it. He also "forgot" to report this
money on their income tax forms.
Secondly, the Republican argument that "..it would trigger an unprecedented intrusion by Washington into
    people's medical decisions" is laughable.
Aren't they doing to same thing to women? Of course they are.
Then there is this ruling that will come before the real benefits from this plan kick in.
Hope they do better than they did with handing us GW and Citizens United, but I am wary.

The Democrats now need to be held 100% accountable for the doubled cost of this bill just at a time when our economy is already struggling with the burden of $16 trillion of debt. Fortunately, 2012 is The Year of Accountability. Soon we can again expect to see Democrats in congress either distancing themselves from Obama or 'retiring to pursue other opportunities".

To heck with us. We can just die - the sooner, the more of our "paid-in-soc. sec." they get to keep.

Simple: You just have to recognzie that as far as the GOP/Teatroll/conservative/fundamentalist crowd is concerned, organisms with hoohoos are not people. Ergo, intrusion into medical decisions affecting the hoohoo-laden are not intrustions into "peoples' medical decisions." Rather, they see it more like making decisions on behalf of your pets.

The GOP now need to be held 100% accountable for the rising number of illnesses and deaths caused by the lack of healthcare because people can't afford health insurance. The insurance companies should be held accountable for price gouging and fraud and larceny.

2012 is The Year of Accountability, and I hold the GOP responsible for the damages they've done to this country.

It looks like republicans are trying to find ways to finance their "two more wars," instead of working to make our country better. Oh wait, they don't have any plans to fund wars, they just want to give more tax cuts to the wealthy.

"The Democrats now need to be held 100% accountable for the doubled cost of this bill just at a time when our economy is already struggling with the burden of $16 trillion of debt. "

Except, as I've already debuynked elsewhere, the ACA numbers are not directly comparable and the number you're citing to now does not mean what you are trying to claim it means. But hey, don't let me stop you from regurgitating the substanceless, misinformation campaign GOP/Teatroll party line talking points you got from the emails and sites like Red State and the whackadoos at WND. God forbid you show some integrity and avoid intentionally misrepresenting what the CBO reports actually mean.

This is a Republican idea (T. Roosevelt) that was implemented in Mass by a Republican (M. Romney) that works. Hey, GOP what is the problem?? Let us look at another fact, we have the best doctors, hospitals & equipment in the world, but we are lagging behind in every other category in healthcare. Why? Tghe way that insurance coverage is implemented. Bottom line.

As the leaders of the free world, the GOP should be ashamed. We are the ONLY industrialized nation who doesn't take care of it's people. The Healthcare industry should be Not-For-Profit. Tell the Big-Pharma companies to stop advertising their products. It costs millions of dollars per year for ad spots. If a person needs the drug, they are not going to make decisions about it by watching commercials. It's about cost, which is driven up to absorb the marketing costs, not the woman or man with the nicest smile. Medical care should not be about profit, but saving lives. How did this shift happen? GOP = Greedy Old Pigs.

And you will soon enough when China stops sending money it doesn't have either! There is no free lunch. Think you are going to get rich? Keep on thinking. For some reality look at the Housing Bubble. Look at Gas Prices. Look at Food Prices. Look at your bottom line. Make sense????

You know how backwards our present insurance coverage is? A friend of mine found she is pre diabetic. Not sure what she needs as far as medical care but insurance companies don't care until you actually have type 1 or 2 diabetes. Shouldn't they be concerned about preventing a disease to progress and cost more money?

"So, I want to know how mAny of you out there who are against the ACA have heard of insurance premiums rising by 20, 30 percent a year? And how many people do you hear complaining about gettint dropped because of pre-existing conditions? In California last year had to refund premiums because their profits exceeded 20 percent. I guess for some of you 20 percent profit is not enough and you want to give them the ability to drop us when they want and to gauge us as they please as well..."
    ====
Speaking of 20% profit: Guess what Medicare's entire overhead is? That's right...1.5% to 3.0% depending on which study you're looking at. What's that? "How come Medicare is able to run with approximately 15%+ less overhead than private insurers?" you ask. Simple: it's not for-profit and NOBODY involved in its administration is getting paid $20M+ per year to find new, inventive and sneaky ways to INCREASE PROFIT BY DENYING COVERAGE.

No other service industry is backwards like that. You make more money for providing more and better services everywhere else. Insurance? Not so much. You make more money the less and worse your service is.

Makes perfect sense. It's about time conservatives finally realized what the long term effects of the Bush Tax Cuts would be. We are seeing the same gas prices that we say during the Bush administration. Ditto for food prices. It's time to end that ridiculously low capital gains tax rate, too.

Yuo can stop complaining now. CNN does the GOP/Teatrolls/conservatives huge favors every day that goes by that the he-said-she-said paradigm of journalistic abortion continues without fact checking or doing any critical analysis of the GOP/Teatroll positions and their obscene demagoguery and claims like "death panels" or the new meme misinterpreting the CBO's recent report on the ACA.

The American people voted against their own interests in 2010. Why? Allowed the right wing tea party folks, Rush Limbaugh, and Fox News push their untruths and prejudices on the American people. Many did not vote so we are now being controlled by 25% of the voting population. Just look what is being done by GOP govenors all over this country. Destroying womens rights, destroying unions and the right to comprimise and more. Wake up America because if we donot, the middle class, poor, women, and minorities will lose all our rights! Remember the GOP saying: Need government out of our lives! Guess what, they have brought more government rules that are taking away our rights!
    Please Wake Up!!!
