Pro-Obama super PAC takes heat over Maher comments

(CNN) – The senior strategist for Priorities USA, a super PAC supporting President Barack Obama, on Monday responded to criticism over accepting a million dollar donation from comedian Bill Maher, who has taken heat for crude comments he's made about certain conservative women.

"I'm not going to stand here and defend vulgarity, no matter who's using it," Bill Burton said on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFrtont." "I'm also not going to accept the Republicans' selective outrage over when they get mad over who uses what terms."

There is such a horible double-standard within our media when it comes to degrading conservative women. When Sarah Palin hit back at Letterman after he made a joke about raping her daughter, our media criticized Palin, saying she was thin-skinned. CNN has yet to report Mike Tyson's violence against women attack. If he had talked about "wombshifting" Michelle Obama, not Palin' our media would have been outraged. I don't seem to remember our media calling for a "war on women" after the two examples I just gave.

I've heard people mention this but not the actual comments. What did Bill Mahar say? I bet it can't be as bad as what Mush said for an entire week directly to a college graduate student.

Well said. The hatewing noise on the right is ridiculous. Basically it's all lies and slander 24/7. Maher's comments now and then are a drop in the bucket compared to the vile language the hatewingers spew daily.

Wasn't it the liberals who "selectively" became outraged at Rush's comment while ignoring Bill Maher and Ed Schultz vile comments about republican woman? Who is being selective here? ..... Being liberal means being a hipocrite. Plain and simple.

Bill Maher is an entertainer just like Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. They both should be ashamed of themselves. But Rush continued his attack for three days. His "apology" not sincere.

I can't believe they would do anything but refuse to take the money. It is just wrong to take money from a idiot that makes comments like that. Republican or Democrat it is wrong. Stop justifying it in your own mind and return the money. You will sleep better at night and gain respect from yourself and others

Money talks – its obvious that there is a mortal lock between the Obama administration and the left-wing dominated media/press guys like Maher. Why selective outrage over Limbaugh, but not over Maher, Matthews, and other obscenity-spewing journalists? Vulgarity should be cause for firing regardless of political leanings.

Erin Burnett gave this Burton guy a pass when he said the repubs are using the Maher attack to avoid the real issues in the campaign. HOLD THE HORSES! The dems started this shooting match with their offensive against limbaugh and their insistence that the repubs have a war against women – a meme that that the sycophants in the media have adopted. Erin B. did not even try to call Burton's hand but instead seemed to agree. More CNN journalisitic malpractice.

the difference between Maher and Limbaugh is this, Limbaugh
made things up about a private citizen and Maher did not.

Very well said. The point the Repubs miss is that their conservative women like Palin and Bachmann go on the attack against gays, minorities, the poor, etc. Then, they want to get outraged when members of the attacked groups come back and say nasty things about them.

Selective outrage that is exactly what the GOP/TP is all about. But I am at ads with what they select! Actually it is an outrage when they talk and spread misinformation all day long!
Humor by an intelligent man like Bill Maher (and Jon Steward, Steve Colbert and many others) is desperately needed in times like this! They just holding up a mirror and shows what ridicules things are said and done specially by the “righties”. That is what the GOP cannot stand. Freedom of speech only for those that agree with them – where did we see that before…???? McCarthyism comes to mind!!! (…and if you have not heard the term, turn to Wikipedia or elsewhere.)

Yeah, yeah, everything is fine; as long as you give me and my pac the big bucks! With this administration and most of its supporters, including Mr. Burton Obama, Jr., hypocrisy and lies know no bounds.

Mr. president you have taught your flunkies well.

Republicans were not mad when he said those things because they didnt say anything when it happen. Only when Rush got in hot water for his comments. They know how the feel about women. Look at the women they use to speak for them. Where is Ann Coulter she is republican and a friend of Bill Maher she hasnt said anything lately. I think she might be switching parties. She hates all things Obama but with this weak republican field she might be on suicide watch.

Republicans have both selective outrage and selective memories.
When Bush marched us into 2 wars and used the Patriot Act to invade our privacy they did not complain.
Now some have labeled labeled these as "Obama's Wars". How?
Bush kept us safe – Sept 11th was a bad day that was someone else's fault.
Obama will make the U.S. more vulnerable / less secure... and he does this by eliminating the top al Qaeda leaders including bin Laden.
The racism shown toward President Obama has been outrageous. Republicans talked about "taking our country back" and using "our second rights". These people were not attacked. But, if anyone stood up and opposed the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq they were called traitors and worse.
Liberals were allowed their opinions – as long as they agreed with the GOP opinions – otherwise the GOP attacked.
We are left with the bullies like Rush and Beck who make up and rewrite history to suit their opinions.
The right has no thinkers left in it. The left needs to become more aggressive in handling these less intellectually-gifted people.

Addvertisers who support Maher should be banned. There is no call for all the bashing the Liberals and the GOP put out on any individual. Being a Comedian does not give Maher the right to slander anyone. Besides he is braindead anyway. Four letter words are the given in Obama supporters so they're the only ones who would believe this amusing.

"I'm also not going to accept the Republicans' selective outrage over when they get mad over who uses what terms."

So President Obama wasn't selective when choosing to call and check on Sandra Fluke's welfare?
