Energy secretary hammered on gas prices

Washington (CNN) – A committee hearing Tuesday on the Department of Energy's use of stimulus funding kept returning to rising gas prices as Republicans hammered Secretary Steven Chu over the pain at the pump.

The partisan divide of Washington was on full display at the House Oversight Committee hearing.

    SOUTHERN HOTTIE - No politician can effect gas prices.
    ==============================================
    But the Democrats hammered Bush and Cheney about it and convinced the American people that they COULD effect gas prices.

    So were you all lying then or are you all lying now????

    Now be good little communists my progressive dunderheads. Defending Secretary Chu is like defending Hitler and Stalin.

    The administration is "purposely" trying to drive gas prices as high as they can be. In their warped, sick, minds, they think that starving the country of fossil fuel will lead to us running to our Chevy dealer to by a Volt (Dolt).
    It's all part of the Liberals trying to manifest their utopia with a land where everyone rides bicycles and drives a Dolt.
    In the sick minds of Liberals, we deserve this because we can't have affordable energy unless it's affordable energy that is approved by Liberals. This is straight out of the Obama playbook, and I shoot the finger at Chu and all the dupes on this board.

    I've seen video clips of Obama criticizing Bush about gas prices. Is Obama and his merry band of leftists telling so many lies to the American people that they can't keep track of them all??!!

    The difference is that Republicans are always laying in bed with the oil companies. Besides, Democrats blamed Bush's war strategies for raising fears and price speculation. You forget that OPEC cut back on production in 2007 because of all of the Iraqi civilians being killed and mosques being destroyed during "The Surge" in Iraq. You forget about Bush's now infamous trip to Saudi Arabia to ask them to increase production to create market pressure to reduce the price of oil. You also forget who you are talking to.

    That was immediately following Bush's embarassing trip to Saudi Arabia to do something about gas prices. Pres. Obama has made no claim that he can directly affect gas prices. Only Republicans make those claims, and blame Democrats for incompetence when they don't make the same claims.

    What is more incompetent that Bush's trip to Saudi Arabia?

    The Republican should be praising Obama for getting us started in the right direction to reduce our needs for imported oil, Just think what it would be like if we hadn't started in conserving oil. We can't drill our-self off of oil. China and the rest of the world understands that, why are we so behind.

    Yes, the Republicans want to develop our domestic oil resources so we aren't dependent on forign oil. While the Democrats want to keep us dependent on foreign oil by blcoking oil exploration in this country.

    Besides, Democrats blamed Bush's war strategies for raising fears and price speculation.

    You mean like Obama's saber rattling is causing Iran to saber rattle in return?

    ===============================================================================================
    Total BS Rudy. OPEC never reduced oil production for those reasons. Simply making it up again huh?

    You also forget who you are talking to.

    Oh I know very well that I am talking to Rudy the Fairy Tale Queen.
