(CNNMoney) - House Republicans on Tuesday made it official: They're proposing a $3.53 trillion budget for 2013 that would kill $55 billion in spending cuts aimed at defense and make up for them with savings elsewhere in the budget.
Overall, the plan from House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan would bring in $2.73 trillion in tax revenue in 2013, compared to $3.53 in outlays, leaving next year's deficit at just under $800 billion. After that point, annual deficits would fall significantly, reaching as low as $166 billion by 2018 but then begin to climb again.

"I think that Rick Santorum's right," Priebus said on CNN's "Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien."
"This election is about big things. It's about liberty and freedom and we've got the two-year anniversary of Obamacare that's coming. This is another promise that Barack Obama made that prices would go down and access would go up, and in reality we all know that actually prices are going up, companies are taking waivers that Obamacare isn't what everyone thought it would be, in fact it's the opposite."
(CNN) – A survey released Tuesday delivered good news for President Barack Obama in Virginia, a large battleground state he won in 2008 and hopes to win again in November’s general election.
The poll from Quinnipiac University showed Obama leading all of the potential GOP candidates by at least eight points, including current frontrunner Mitt Romney, who Obama led 50%-42%. The president was ahead of Rick Santorum 49%-40%, Newt Gingrich 54%-35% and Ron Paul 49%-39%.
