Santorum video: 'Obamaville' is a house of horrors

(CNN) – Crows perch on spindly trees. Barren streets and empty swing sets. An antiquated wall clock. A playground carousel spinning slowly with an eerie screech.

The visuals conjure a horror film or the old TV series, "The Twilight Zone."

But the collection of spine-tingling scenes pervades Rick Santorum's new web video trailer about life under the Obama administration.

It's called "Welcome to Obamaville."

The brief web video is a taste of an upcoming eight-episode series that showcases what the campaign says is Obama's incompetence and the harsh reality of life in America during his watch.

"Small businesses are struggling and families are worried about their jobs and their future," the narrator says. "The wait to see a doctor is ever increasing. Gas prices through the roof, and their freedom of religion under attack."

In one image, a silhouetted figure holding a gas pump nozzle to his head accompanies the warning of rising gas prices.

At one point, as the ghostly music begins to build and the piece nears conclusion, the narrator warns against "a sworn American enemy" and a television flickers between images of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Obama.

"Welcome to a place where one president's failed policies really hit home. Welcome to Obamaville, more than a town, a cautionary tale, coming soon to ricksantorum.com," the narrator said.

John Brabender, a senior advisor to Santorum, told CNN the campaign has no plans to purchase airtime for the video.

"It will illustrate how radically life will change for the average American when we have out of control gas prices, the full impact of Obamacare, and the daily nightmare of a nuclear armed Iran," he said.

Wow! That's the face of desparation. A rediculous bunch of baseless charges designed to appeal to the most ignorant and fearfull segments of our society. Santorum has become a joke. Calling our President a "snob" for encouraging Americans to better themselves through education or training. Saying our Constitutionally guarantee of freedom of religion as articulated makes him "want to throw up". Now this thoroughly stupid attack on the President?

Try to lose with a least a little grace, Santorum.

The repubs willingness to throw the American people under the bus, and push their money to big corporations, so they can outsource it and our jobs, is on track. How can Obama fight big corporations money and the repubs, for the good of the American people. When the people are so gullible to believe the lies they spus, May YAH help us.

Sanitation, is an anal retentive, conservative evangelical, stick in the mud. I'll bet partys at his house are not overly stimulating. Obamaville isn't as bad as it would have been, had Obama not reacted so well against the recessionary ecconomy, when he took office. What's scrary to me, is what would happen if Sanitarium were elected president. The guy is truly over the edge on most issues. Wish I had an etch-o-scetch braun, so I could shake all the stupid republican comments out of my head.

Wow, did they just compare Obama to Ahmadinejad? I feel for America. Sorry but if this is how low this country can stoop to....then I am speechless. And that's what is claimed to civil and democratic? Then what's the difference between wild animals and us. O by the way, how much money has been spent on this campaign? Maybe, if all the passion and "love for our country" was this bug, then we could have them rich and able pay some of our debt. We really have to dig deep and ask if really our elections are free or on sale to the highest bidder. Shame on this video though.

You should have seen what it would have been if Obama hadn't stopped the Bush/republican near depression.

I'm a life-long conservative, and as of this election, I have completely lost all faith in my party. I am switching teams, because (once I did some true fact-finding and not just believing everything anyone tells me) I find that Obama/Biden have a great track record of success and that this country's economy is actually getting better. What a hoot! No rational content, only that fear factor. Morphing Obama's face with Ahmadinajad's, when in reality if there is already a nuclear power in the Mideast, so you'd think Israel could deal with him without including us in another war we can't afford. Really want oil prices to hit the moon? Have that little war you're jonesing for Republicans. Take the AIPAC money and have it, and drive the US into receivership. Gee, what a deal!

Picture a world had the Republican's been in office. The banks collapsed, the car companies and all of the businesses that rely on those companies for parts, mechanics shops etc....All Out of work. It is suggested it would have been worse than the Bigger Depression of the 40's. The Republicans would like Big Corporations to become bigger and make more money while the little guy gets paid less and has no rights for on the job safety. We would be a world run by the greedy. Look what deregulation brought us. Lack of Oversight. Republicans even want to control your sex life, what you do in the privacy of your own home. Don't be fooled. They are a pack of wild hienas waiting to gobble us up and laugh all the way to the bank. Put a stop to them while you still can!

Please Mr. Santorum tell us how you will lower gas prices – don't make things up – drilling today will not lower gas prices today, how will you fix the rising cost of healthcare and save families from bankruptsy due to medical bills – how wlll you control nuclear weapons in foreign countries? I've heard about birth control and religion, but what about the problems in the video? What are the solutions presented by the Santorum campaign?

It's an exaggeration, but still hits home. That's the state of the the nation under this president. Obama can't run on "hope and change" again...

Why is it that right wingnuts are unwilling to accept the fact that Obama stopped the Bush republican near depression, that bin Laden is dead, that GM is alive, that we lost 8 million jobs in Bush's last three years and have gained 4 million jobs in Obama's three years? The stock market has almost doubled under President Obama, and Obama's budget deficit is $977 billion compared to Bush's last one with a deficit of $1.37 trillion. That my wingnuts, is hope and change.

Santorum might as well give up running and just become a movie director. This is just ridiculous. For once can we just have an honest campaigning without the possible candidates attacking one another? But they again, it would not make the presidential election any fun if they played fair. Honestly, when will this childish behavior stop? Americans are probably sick and tired of the mudslinging back and forth. There are real issues the candidates need to focus on and help find a solution to instead of mudslinging. This will never happen if they continue this childish behavior. They are just disgracing themselves in front of millions. If they continue this way, especially Santorum, no one is going to take them seriously.

To think that anyone would see this commercial and take it seriously is beyond my understanding. I could see having to explain to my children that this is not reality, but adults are actually watching and believing it???? Come on America, don't be part of the flock!

I like the statement where freedom of religion is under attack. If Santorum had his way we would all forced to comply with his wacky religious beliefs. We would be ran like a Christian Middle East.
