Santorum video: 'Obamaville' is a house of horrors

(CNN) – Crows perch on spindly trees. Barren streets and empty swing sets. An antiquated wall clock. A playground carousel spinning slowly with an eerie screech.

The visuals conjure a horror film or the old TV series, "The Twilight Zone."

But the collection of spine-tingling scenes pervades Rick Santorum's new web video trailer about life under the Obama administration.

It's called "Welcome to Obamaville."

The brief web video is a taste of an upcoming eight-episode series that showcases what the campaign says is Obama's incompetence and the harsh reality of life in America during his watch.

"Small businesses are struggling and families are worried about their jobs and their future," the narrator says. "The wait to see a doctor is ever increasing. Gas prices through the roof, and their freedom of religion under attack."

In one image, a silhouetted figure holding a gas pump nozzle to his head accompanies the warning of rising gas prices.

At one point, as the ghostly music begins to build and the piece nears conclusion, the narrator warns against "a sworn American enemy" and a television flickers between images of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Obama.

"Welcome to a place where one president's failed policies really hit home. Welcome to Obamaville, more than a town, a cautionary tale, coming soon to ricksantorum.com," the narrator said.

John Brabender, a senior advisor to Santorum, told CNN the campaign has no plans to purchase airtime for the video.

"It will illustrate how radically life will change for the average American when we have out of control gas prices, the full impact of Obamacare, and the daily nightmare of a nuclear armed Iran," he said.

WAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! My, don't you Libtards have your panties in a twist! Get used to it clowns you haven't seen anything yet. Obozo didn't get vetted 1st time around-this time it will be different. I find it absolutely amazing that y'all go hysterical over a political video yet no one gives a second thought that this clown in the W.H. associates with Black Sepratists, domestic terrorists, signs legislation that Americans can be Killed abroad without due process(Virtually at his whim-remember folks-this can go BOTH ways) Can arrest Americans and hold indefinately-without charges,(The FBI will get back to us on whether he can order the killing of Americans on American soil) tries to do everything he can to slow down domestic energy production. He's a empty suit, unqualified (and ineligible) for the position that he holds. Considering his affection for taking vacations, golfing, playing basketball, and flying around to various cities and Countries-perhaps he would be better suited for ...hmmm....maybe a Travel Agent or Tour Guide?

  2. Fear

Fear – Ignorance – Intolerance...The three prerequisites to being a Republican. Nobody with any common sense has forgotten who is responsible for this financial crisis.

How low will they go? Suffocating hope and forward thinking with fear mongering and negativism shows their desperation. Spreading gloom and doom will do nothing to sway votes to the right, especially when they don't offer any positive solutions.

Santorum is now officially ready for the sanitarium. If I were a religious person I would believe Rick S would be a prime candidate for the Anti-Christ. I've never seen such hatred spew from anyone's mouth, let alone a professed "christian". His brain is a very dark place.

Does this religious man Santorum starting growing some horns on his head? You betcha.

TPaine: He did not kill any American citizens overseas. The person you referered to was a terrorist who had given up his citizenship publicly and through his actions. People fail to remember GWB took office with under 4.5% unemployment and left and handed Obama an increasing 7.8%. How can he stop it from going over 9% in one month in office (March 2009), How can he get it back to 7.8% with Congress Repubs saying NO to everything while not proposing anything. Also people are sooooo stupid. The POTUS can not control gas prices that is done by speculators, the people who support Romney and other GOP control freaks

Love how they blame the mess they made on the one person trying to fix it. Amyone who votes Repub. this fall is either incred. stupid, or incred. scared. Man up, we are Americans, we face our challenges.

  9. Seeing Their Own Reflection Of Horror

Since the common-sense challenged presidential runners on the right have absolutely No Plans for this country other than to take away what little the Middle-Class, Minorities, and the Poor have that President Obama helps to secure for them, Santorum has nothing better to do than to come up with a tale about his own thoughts for people should he or other Republicans get into the White House, which is the true horror tale in itself, which is why it will not happen! It's sad to see a man whom some think had some potential stoop down to this new low. But then again, Santorum and the Republicans see Americans only from the Lowest view possible while President Obama sees High Potential, GREATNESS, GROWTH, and PROSPERITY that he is strongly working towards to give ALL Americans! That Is Why this November He Will Easily Win His Second Term to Office and most rightfully deserved! Unequivocally - OBAMA/BIDEN 2012 –America's ONLY Hope!!

Good lord americans are hystericaly hillarious.!! Especially republicans!! I do hope SNL does a spoof of this. if I were american I'd vote for Obama any day. I mean really. while the rest of the civilized world is doing there best to come together globally and regionally republicans come up with policies that discriminate and push an agenda of haterd. Even there economic policies are hillarious. Tax the rich less so their money "trickle down" to the poor? LOL In case they dont know poor people's money go to rich people not the other way around. Its been like that forever in all parts of the world!! nobody can give an economic example of how this republican concept works. and I rofl when they tried to paint teachers in the union as over paid and called them "union tugs" OMG if I were american my aunty would be a union tug. Any way I'm getting upset just writing this so I'll say the only republican I want as the president is Sarah Palin because she's SO stupid she'd have me and the rest of the world in stiches for the four years

The bigotry on this board saddens me. legitimate policy differences with the Administration are fine. Saying the President is unqualified or worse, ineligible for the office is reprehensible. The poster above is simply a bigot.

Typical small-minded, self righteous, Opus Dei Racist. As a Catholic and Pennslvanian, I find Ricky radically embarrassing. Stay awake, voters. This man is divisive and dangerous – slightly less than Mitt.

Really – Outrageous? There are many parts of this that ALREADY describe the 200K population town I live in! We've had dozens of both big and small business go under in the last 12 months. My wife is working 3 jobs right now. We have a $4K deductible on our health insurance. I just had to reschedule my annual check-up with my Dr... what was that about having to wait for healthcare that isn't real? I'm already suffering this films claims!

    @Richard Maximillion
It's kinda disappointing – & sad – that you, as a "non-American," know more about American politics than the low-information voter who has their head stuck in the Faux-hole. Even you see what the current President has to put up with on the other side, ever since McConnell said that the "'priority" in the party is to make Obama a one-term president!

  18. October Surprise

The October Surprise will not be the Republicans getting into the White House in 2012 but rather President Obama seeing the vast majority of Americans heading to the polls the next month to vote for his re-election! People are fed up with RepubliCANTS and do not want to once again regress to their failed policies of the past. They will give President Obama Four More Years to complete the job Americans overwhelmingly voted for him to do four years ago! The going has gotten rougher but that is due to the Obstructionist Republicans! Don't let them fool you by telling you otherwise! With Republicans out of the way, this country will truly continue to Prosper and Grow, and it has already started, with Obama as the true leader that he is! OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!!

As TPAINE said: we ain`t seen nothing yet. Yet another example of pure demagoguery used by yet another religious fanatic, whose understanding of Economics is equivalent to that of a primary school child, whose understanding of what the electorate really wants is non-existant and whose performance under attack is simply pitiful. Santorum, as an edition of a President wanna be is pitiful, uninformed and hard headed. He makes Newt look like a centrist. He should do the Patriotic thing and leave. While he is leaving, he could take Newt with him.

TPaine – I just have to ask. Are you 12? Or is it 10? Is this how you start a dialog with your opposition as an adult? You know, us "libtards" are your fellow countrymen. Just because Fox News and hate radio shock jocks tell you to hate us so they can make lots of money doesn't mean that you should. Don't we, after all, want the same things ultimately, shelter, food, our families safe, our kids educated? Are we really that far off? May I suggest you turn off your tv and radio for a spell and think for yourself. I realize it may not be possible, you may be so entrenched, but give it a try just the same. Our country depends on it.

Whew!! Welcome to Santorum's House of Horrors, where evolution is denied, climate change is considered a hoax, science in general is thought to be blasphemous. His "God" only accepts Christians & condemns all others, his beliefs are undisputedly true and America must step back 200 years to survive. I'll take what he calls "Obamaville" over his "Hateburg" any day.

Willard Romney is not a true Conservative, and Sanctimonious is not a true Catholic! Catholics don't ordinarly act and think like Rick! He best get out of the race now, lest he give other countries the impression that American candidates are crazy. Oops, too late..

Annie: Great post. I would dare take it a step further. We share this little Planet with people with whom we disagree. Basically they want pretty much the same thing, while expressing it in a different way. We all want peace and prosperity, we all want that our children have it easier than us. If we all want the same things in a basic way, perhaps we might discover one day that America doesn`t have to be the World`s Policeman.
