Washington (CNN) - In another sign the GOP establishment is coalescing behind Mitt Romney, former President George H.W. Bush is scheduled to formally endorse the Republican frontrunner on Thursday.
A Romney campaign spokeswoman confirmed Bush is expected to officially throw his support behind the GOP contender at an event in Houston, near the former president's home.

Before Wednesday's campaign announcement, the Bush family had already signaled its support for Romney. Earlier this month, the campaign recruited former first lady Barbara Bush to record pro-Romney robo-calls in the days leading up the Ohio primary on Super Tuesday.
"We have known the Romneys for years and believe Mitt is the best man to lead the country for the next four years and Ann will make a great first lady," Mrs. Bush said on the call.
Last December, Bush made it clear he intended to support Romney in an interview with the Houston Chronicle.
"I think Romney is the best choice for us," former President Bush told the Houston Chronicle.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush endorsed Romney last week.

"Read my lipps, no new taxes" ya i remember that. All of these ppl are on the same sinking ship.
There is only 1 obvious answer and every "real" conservative knows who that is. The fact that Fox cancelled
Freedom Watch tells you how corrupt this whole deal is. Sorry America, were gonna miss you. RIP
I'm glad the Bush's are lining up to tell us who to vote against.
Looks like THE ESTABLISHMENT is rallying behind their LOSER, like they did with Bob Dole and John McCain. I hope Conservatives see this and rally around Santorum in an effort to BLOCK Romney. The Republican Party NEEDS a BROKERED Convention to select quality candidates that can defeat President Obama in November. GOOD people stayed away because of Romney's Control of the Republican Party Organization in most states and of course his BIG SPENDING in the campaign. If he spends tax money like he spends his campaign money, there really would be little differencew between Obama and Romney. We need a hard RIGHT TURN. Remember the Republican Establishment want to keep their big government power, just spend it differently.
DB says: "President Bush Sr is a good man. He did many good things for our country." Can we say Iraq oil war? Then when his kid was elected Bush II had to "go get that guy that tried to kill my daddy" only problem Obama did that.
Bush 1, read my lips: "NO NEW TAXES" then goes ahead and raises taxes.
And thus a vote for Romney is and has always been a vote to re-instate Bush empire policies. Romney hired GWB advisors in the very beginning. Has the official and unofficial nod of Cheney, Rove, Daniels, Suneau, and Jeb. Game will be Jeb is Romney running mate and that sets Jeb up to run in 2016. 3 Bush's in the White House would be the strike out at the plate for America. If Romney is elected you can bet we will be in war with Iraq by February of 2013.
The Republican race is between money and ignorance. Neither thankfully will win.
Republicans come together to back and endorse Romney. Democrats run away from Obama endorsing them in any race. LOL
I do not beleive that a Bush endorsement would make a hair's diference. George W. Bush ruined the Bush name forever.
People are sick of the Bush family brand and the world is moving away from them.
This is the kind of republican that makes the party undesirable
Of course the Bush family endorses Romney. They're part of the same club.

All Da Shrubs ahould be cut down and thrown on the dump. Ths kiss of death for Ram-Knee. Makes me happy but Da Shrubs should all be in PRISON.

after 8 years of GWB, we still have "Bush Fatigue", so with all due respect George H.W., no more presidential picks, play golf, drink funny drinks with umbrellas in them, walk the beach with Bar, but let the election proceed without you.
I didn't vote for Daddy Bush, but I have alot of respect for him and all the WW 2 vets. Obama 2012!!!!
Skeleton attacks with Ineffective Endorsement + 1 for 1D4 damage!
One loser backing another loser, talk about the kiss of death!
Yep, that's because we are all going to run out and vote for someone Bush endorses.
Bush Sr. is at least the best example of a conservative president the Republicans have put forth in 30 years.
I have some respect for Bush 41 (as opposed to Bush 43) but doesn't it seem that most politicians wait until the nominee is apparent before endorsing? C'mon, if you really believe in someone, go out on a limb before they have the thing wrapped up.
Oh yea, vote for Obama...and keep watching people who don't pay their mortgages get modifications with rates as low as 2.0%. All the while, the rest of us that actually pay our bills don't get a single incentive to keep doing so. Obama = feeding the bottom feeders at the expense of the hard working. Romney = opportunity and reward for hard work.
Well at least it isn't from Bush 43. If that's any consolation... Maybe they should have Cheney endorse as well...
I guess Romney is best of the lot. Sheeeesh But who did we have to select from....Santorum believes in combining church and state..........Gingrich is an outdated old fart that caries more baggage than a railway car....and methinks if Ron Paul was 50 years younger then HE should be the candidate. AND LOL....South Carolina and Georgia has been made to look like a bunch of backward clouns for voting for Gingrich and knowing full well about his reputation. Hang your head Georgia.
Hey Old Bushie, way to go out on limb! Nothing like waiting until he's a sure thing, huh?
Wow.. A big loser endorsement.. How exciting,, the poor economic management from the Bush family is a big part of the huge problems that we are dealing with now. It would be best for Romney if the Bush folks would keep their distance!
