Bill Clinton weighs a Hillary Clinton presidential bid

(CNN) – Former President Bill Clinton left the door open to his wife Hillary Clinton running for office again, despite the current secretary of state's repeated insistence she will not seek the presidency in the future.

"I believe she's being absolutely honest with you when she says she doesn't think she'll go back into politics," Clinton said in an interview that aired Monday on ABC's "Good Morning America." "But if she comes home and we do this foundation stuff for the rest of our lives I'll be happy. If she changes her mind and decides to run I'll be happy."

Clinton said Secretary Clinton plans to "come home and decompress and relax" after serving as chief diplomat, a post she has repeatedly said will be her last role in public service.

The former president unsurprisingly predicted the incumbent president will win re-election by a significant margin.

"I think that his argument will be we put a floor under the recession and kept it from becoming a depression," Clinton said. "We have begun to dig our way out. I think that's he's going to win handily and I have for a long time."

He also compared and contrasted the attacks he endured during his first presidential run in 1992 to those lobbed at Romney.

"Mine was just one long character attack, but we never had to change what we were saying from the primary to the general," Clinton said. "The problem Gov. Romney has is his character attack was you don't really know what he believes- he did this, he says that."

I love Hillary Clinton! I think she would make an awesome president. I am proud of Obama who is a great man. He gave her a chance to be the second biggest power in US.

President Clinton is absolutely right. Mr. Romney has no chance of winning the presidency this time aroung. I think independents can see right through his personality. He flip-flops, lies, panders and talks like he has ants in his pants and has an irritating voice. Really he has no issue to stand against Obama expecially when the economy is going well, job market is picking up and President Obama is respected in global politics. What does Romney have just that he is rich and cannot feel the middle class. 2016 is Mrs. Clinton's.

Hillary is easily the best qualified person to be President, with the possible exception of David Petraeus. On most foreign policy issues, Obama wisely follows Hillary and the Pentagon.

Hillary loved her job as U.S. Senator from the great state of New York. Personally, I think that she should run for Governor when / if Cuomo decides to run for higher office. Shake Albany up, Hillary. You go girl.

I like Hillary a lot, but Bill as first lady? That would take some getting-used-to.

Secretary Clinton has done an outstanding job us and for this country. Watching her transform over the years has been nothing less than inspiring. She has proven herself and would make a darn good President. She may not be running (at t his time) but she has already earned my vote.

Hillary would be one of the best Presidents ever. The bottom line is that she serves our country daily with excellence and dignity. I am proud every day that she is a democrat with substance, with intelligence and charm when needed. She has managed to steer America back to the front of respectfulness after the abundance and wells of lies, deceptions’ practices that the past Republican administration laid out for us. The gravity of her work in all the positions that she has held makes her more than qualified to be our President in 2016. Madam Secretary Clinton deals with life and man made traps with quiet calm, determination, decency and grace. President Hillary Clinton will elevate smart, hard working women of any race, regardless of political party or interest, statue to the level of respect where we should be.

Maybe you forget, beevee. National debt is at $16 trillion and under Obama it will continue to climb. Is this acceptable to you? I hope so because Obama has no plans to even address this level of debt. As we see in Europe right now, debt can devastate countries.

What we need is what Mitt Romney is capable of doing and Obama is not. We need to grow the economy and increase government revenues that way. We need to fix Medicare and not let the funding go dry. We need to fix healthcare. ObamaCare is becoming a runaway financial nightmare. We can do better. We will.

Hillary's credentials are as impressive as the 10 women Presidents in the World and she is the only woman in U.S. politics that matches up. American women in politics need to read Hillary's bio and the 10 women presidents they wouldn't be so quick to jump up and just say they are qualified, they would prepare themselves and save our country the embarrassment.

The person who complains about the national debt has a point and I ask you? Where were you when the two wars started? Surely you knew the wars would cost trillions to send Americans across the globe to fight and more so, it would spend trillions in future care for caring for our injured troops! So where were you hypocrite! Where are you right now, now that America is spending over 100 thousand dollars a day in security for three people running for President in the Republican Party, two of wish has no chance of the nomination! Where were you when the combined salaries for the Republican Party total millions and they weren’t working for the health insurance and vacations that my tax dollar is paying?
Point the finger at the right persons.

The only reason why she's not president now is b/c the media and this nation phuqqed it up by putting President Obama as the candidate to begin with. With that being said, I wouldn't blame her for not running for the big White House again, we had our chance and we p-issed it all away. If she does decide to run I'd vote for her in a heart beat. HILLARY HILLARY HILLARY

Four and the Door says "National debt is at $16 trillion and under Obama it will continue to climb." What a ridiculous statement. No matter who's in office, it's going to climb. Romney has no ability to improve the economy more than is being done now.

Come on. In 2016 she'll be almost as old as John McCain was. If the Dems can't come up with a younger candidate in 2016, they are in trouble. Don't wait until 2016 – right now Hilary is a better candidate and has a better chance of winning than BHO. The DNC should convince the POTUS to step aside and let her in in 2012.

We cannot run another candidate that believes that free trade is good for the country. We need a president that understands that he or she is president of the United States and not the wealthy people of other countries.
