(CNN) – Former President Bill Clinton left the door open to his wife Hillary Clinton running for office again, despite the current secretary of state's repeated insistence she will not seek the presidency in the future.
"I believe she's being absolutely honest with you when she says she doesn't think she'll go back into politics," Clinton said in an interview that aired Monday on ABC's "Good Morning America." "But if she comes home and we do this foundation stuff for the rest of our lives I'll be happy. If she changes her mind and decides to run I'll be happy."

Clinton said Secretary Clinton plans to "come home and decompress and relax" after serving as chief diplomat, a post she has repeatedly said will be her last role in public service.
The former president unsurprisingly predicted the incumbent president will win re-election by a significant margin.
"I think that his argument will be we put a floor under the recession and kept it from becoming a depression," Clinton said. "We have begun to dig our way out. I think that's he's going to win handily and I have for a long time."
He also compared and contrasted the attacks he endured during his first presidential run in 1992 to those lobbed at Romney.
"Mine was just one long character attack, but we never had to change what we were saying from the primary to the general," Clinton said. "The problem Gov. Romney has is his character attack was you don't really know what he believes- he did this, he says that."

The media is really grasping at straws to view this as "leaving the door open." Secretary Clinton has been an asset to the Administration and our country. She seldom says anything that she doesn't mean so I think changing her mind, while always possible, is very unlikely.
Sorry! She has screwed up her chances of ever becoming the first woman president. She will forever be known as one of Obama's attack dogs. To add insult to injury (I was among her first supporters when she decided to run for president) she continues to support the president's idiotic policies and lying. Sorry Hillary!!!
Here we go again. We have the people who think that Obama is not a citizen. We have those who do not like Bill or Hillary Clinton and cannot say anything nice about them. We have the naysayers and those who are very good at getting readers all wound up.
Unfortunately, we are wasting energy on speculation. We are not standing up and telling our representatives that we have sent them to do the people's business. WE have not sent them to sit on their hands and do nothing. We have not sent them there to criticize constantly without coming forward with another idea. We did not send them to stubbornly support their own ideas instead of working together to get the best possible legislation which will be a win-win for all involved.
obama 2012. hillary 2016. i like the sound of that. yes both my wife gerry and i are socialist. we get social security and the last time i looked, that would be a socialist-type program, right? we also get VA benefits as i'm a 100 per cent Vietnam veteran. Should that be cut too? See my GOP friends, not all socialism is bad. we have both voted republican but you must admit this is a scary and crazy bunch. if any get in out of this crop, then God help us and the country many of us have defended–or, fought in wasteful stupid needless wars. let's work together to make us No. 1 again. /
She and most of the free white world are more capable than our lackluster President.

Yes, since Powell has disappeared, please, run this year. Between the goober in office and the ones running from the GOP side I'd vote for Hillary in a heartbeat; brains, brass, and the will to use both of them. Yes, I know we're not talking about this election, but it can't hurt to dream a little.
I never thought I'd say I'd vote for Hillary...
I will vote for President Obama in 2012 and wait for 2016 to elect the first woman president.
I only hope the President has the good sense to campaign actively for Hillary Clinton the way she and President Clinton campaigned for him.
He didn't get elected without help, and neither will she.
Hillary Clinton looks very tired and very drained of energy at this time. She would have to transform and reinvent herself to run for President in 2016 to be the confident, smiling woman she was in 2008. And as we all know we judge people much more by how they look and how they dress (especially if they are women) than we do by what they say they will do. It's not the wisest course of action but it seems to be the one we take every four years.
Put Biden in Hilary's position. He's good at diplomacy. HIlary runs as VP. When Obama is done his second term she runs for President. She will make a fantastic President.
What was the evidence that Obama was not a natural born US citizen? I'm sure your great or great great grandparents eren't born in the US! So can you prove that you're a natural born US citizen? Or perhaps you're Native American? Moron!
She will be a better president than any Republican by far. I hope she runs in 2016
Hill was born in October 1947 so, she will be 69 in November of 2016.
Yes Hillary run!! We need a woman in charge to straighten out this mess.
She's already got my vote for 2016
Hillary is an Israel-firster who would keep us in a perpetual war to protect their interests at our expense!
Wll first he needs to fix the mistake he knew that was wrong when she ran the first time, The first birther was the clintons, Hollywood producer heard Clinton say Obama ineligible
A successful Hollywood producer who had an insider's view of Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign claims she heard Bill Clinton say that Barack Obama is not eligible to be president. And we've got the video!
2011 eyes. Thank you, thank you for your sanity. You brought tears.
Sorry, not in the mood for dynasties. Give some new people with new ideas a chance at the top, because the current crop of politicos from both parties have gotten us into one hell of a mess.
Best thing that happened to the Republican party was President Obama defeating Secretary Clinton. Hillary Clinton would have been a strong President and the country would not be a mess – thus making a Republican nominee unlikely to win the Presidency.
Hillary in the same bed as Obama. They both steal American taxpayers money, billions of them, and give to our anemies, islam ofascists who kill Americans, they converted America in isla mofascism landfill.
I would vote for her right now – I voted for her in the 2008 primary
