Romney fields hostile question on Mormonism

Green Bay, Wisconsin (CNN) – A Green Bay voter confronted Mitt Romney over his religion at a town hall Monday, the day before Wisconsin's primary. Romney is a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, whose members are commonly called Mormons.

"I guess my question is, do you believe it's a sin for a white man to marry and procreate with a black?" asked Bret Hatch, a 28-year old Ron Paul supporter from Green Bay.

Obama to hit Ryan’s budget plan

(CNN) - President Obama is set to hit back against Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget proposal Tuesday, less than a week after the controversial measure was approved by the House of Representatives largely along partisan lines.

According to senior administration officials, the president’s remarks at an Associated Press luncheon in Washington will echo the themes of economic fairness and shared responsibility the president advanced during a speech in Osawatomie, Kansas last fall and again at the State of the Union in January.

Hillary Clinton on the sidelines in 2012

(CNN) – She proved to be an important ally for President Obama on the campaign trail in 2008, but don’t bet on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton making a return appearance to the stump this time around.

A senior administration official said Monday Clinton would be sitting out the 2012 election, as has been customary for past secretary of states during the campaign season. The position is an apolitical one, the senior administration official explained, and dispatching Clinton on the campaign trail would compromise that.

GOP has work cut out for it to bridge gender gap

Washington (CNN) - Even Mitt Romney admits that he's got his work cut out for him to reach out to female voters as he transitions from the Republican presidential nomination battle to what will most likely be his general election matchup against President Barack Obama.

"We have work, we have work to do, to make sure we take our message to the women of America, so they understand how we're going to get good jobs and we're going to have a bright economic future for them and for their kids, and make sure that these distortions that the Democrats throw in are clarified and the truth is heard," Romney said Sunday in Middleton, Wisconsin.

Romney, Santorum focus on Wisconsin ahead of Tuesday primaries

(CNN) - Mitt Romney and his main challenger for the Republican presidential nomination focused their campaign efforts Monday on Wisconsin, the main prize among three contests Tuesday before a three-week break in the primaries.

Both Romney and Rick Santorum planned events across Wisconsin on the eve of the winner-takes-all primary offering 42 delegates. Maryland and Washington, D.C., also will hold primaries Tuesday, and Romney is leading in all three contests, according to recent polling.

(CNN) – The Romney family got the "Mad Men" treatment in Sunday's episode, courtesy of a derogatory reference to the father of the current Republican presidential hopeful.

Washington (CNN) - Take Nikki Haley off the vice presidential short list.
