"As he leaves the hospital, the former Vice President and his family want to again express their deep gratitude to the donor and the donor's family for this remarkable gift," a statement from his office read, which also thanked the medical teams which participated in his care.
His history of heart health issues has included at least five heart attacks since 1978 when he was 37.

Just in time to be named Romney's running mate. Romney already said he would choose a VP just like Cheney. So voila, taxpaid for new heart and Cheney is ready to run America again.
Welcome home, Mr. Cheney. While I did not like your policies while Veep, I do wish for your continued health. Just do Lynn a favor and cut down on the salt, and be careful. The anti-rejection meds you have to take WILL result in reduced immunity. That also means that some vaccinations that many people in your age group would normally get are now taboo to you.
I would like to wish him and his family all the very best.
Mr Cheney you have been given the gift of life. This time use it wisely.
@ Joe from CT -
A mighty classy post. A tip to the hat to ye.
Looking good Dick! I'm sure you're many years of stressful public service took its toll on the old ticker so a new one is well deserved. Keep up the good fight!
Your fate is now our own. Sever all ties with the past. Let no one know that you still serve me. Now go and remember, the Dark Side is always with you.
Get well
