Mitt Romney's new general election message

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) – After hammering Republican rivals for months, Mitt Romney is gearing up for the main event and turning his full attention to President Obama.

The two camps are now openly trading broadsides - and the first salvos are over the economy, a topic likely to be at the fore of political discourse until Election Day.

    Obama: Trickle down doesn't work
    ============================
    Then why does Obama's government keep taking more and more and trying to trickle it down to Solyndra and other bankrupt green energy scams or lavish government conferences in Las Vegas??

    Obama linked Romney to the budget plan favored by House Republicans on Tuesday, calling it "thinly veiled social Darwinism." It was the first time the president has mentioned Romney's name in a campaign speech.
    ===========================================================================================
    Honestly Obama.... Most Democrat voters are too poorly educated to know what the heck you are talking about! They went to liberal controlled, union run public schools that churn out illiterates and drop outs!! Most think Darwinism is some rapper from LA!! You are going to have to do far better than this rubbish!

    That attempted analogy "gotcha" doesn't even come close to working and is a complete and utter mis-application of the very ideology GOPers/Teatrolls are pushing and that you claim to understand and believe in. EPIC FAIL.

    Well, its nice to see that truth is back, making his/her usual clumsy attempts at the education of liberals. I guess the Red States that enjoy right-to-work laws have really been churning out teachers that get their kids to suceed. I mean, isn't everyone running to Louisiana, Texas and other states to enjoy the quality education that Rick Perry and his fellow GOP governors? Yep, they are really turning out winners. If you look at the majority of the states that consistently rank at the bottom in terms of education, Red States all. To top it off, the rest of us hard-working Blue States still have to subsidize their lazy a$$es: guess we really know who values their kids more. Oh, and by the way, we do know what Darwinism is, and we don't try to ban a book because its being used in our schools. The red states have to get their "Dummy's" versions of it which they try to read after they are done with their football playbooks. Remember, sports before studying! That's the Southern GOP way!

    Dude...did you forget that liberals are the ones who actually believe in evolution, scientific truth and that math cannot be denied or explained away by insisting your ideology trumps reality? Seriously. While GOPers are out there busily denying evolution and making their case by behaving in a manner that suggests their gene pools haven't evolved, they still want to essentially apply "natural selection" to society (as long as they get to define the selection criteria of course).

    What's most likely to come from people not understanding what Obama said and his use of the term "social darwinism"? Simple: Angry, underreducated rural conservatives resenting his use of words and concepts that sound "elitist." In fact, I'm somewhat suprised we still haven't heard any Rovian/Luntzian talking points on just that very point, trying to tap into said resentment.

  9. The Greedy Old Pigs declared class war on US!

    "Romney has long argued that the federal government has significantly overstepped its traditional role, and that the central goal of a Romney presidency would be to pare back the size and activities of the federal apparatus."

    Of course, to the GOBP, the government's "traditional role" would be the role it played in the 1800s.

    Still repeating the Big Lie about the alternative energy investment portfolio despite it being debunked many times. That portfolio had a projected failure rate (as any venture capitalist fund does) and right now losses are below what were projected. That's called fiscal responsibility, moran.

    Given that – other than the 1% – most Red states are Southern and have the same poor education, it's no wonder they allow Faux Noise to tell them what to do, what to think, whom to vote for, yada, yada, yada. They can't even think for themselves, so your point is ?

    Mitt can said what he wants but the fact of the matter is that he offering the dame trickle down economics that got is in the hole, less taxes for the rich,less education expending, less Medicare,less environment regulations, less money for research, less immigrant, etc oft faces and be honest Obama may had mess up a couple time but he had shown that he cares about our nation. Like or not he got health care, has ketp the nation safe. Finish Iraq, the economic is getting better, had putmore money in education than any other presidents, had resisted the republican from creating a back to texture republic in just three years tell about bush eight years from surplus to bankrupt I hope some of you got the points republicans only desire is to defeat Obama even if it mean to sink the country with him anyway vote your consciences.

    it seems to me the only people pushing for education are the democrats. We actually believe that creationism is not the only thing to be taught in school. The earth is not flat and climate change does exist. Stem cell reserch is a good thing and renewable energy helps the planet. WE also want everyone even republicans to have affordable health coverage and the right to choose for women. Mitt understands none of the above and is the perfect candidate for the failed repo party of NO. Obama 2012

    @Dave "mormon tabby nacke "

    Is this what we have to look forward to in Nov.? Religious prejudice in place of actual dialog?
    This is not much better than the anti-Old-Guy and anti-strong-women pseudo-rhetoric from the last election.

    Let's get liberal discussion back into the higher IQ level, OK?
    There is enough REAL points to make against Romney's policies to avoid this kind of teenage rant.

    Romney's new campaign message: " Who would've EVER thought that after my what, second, third attempt I'd actually be able to (with the help of my uber-wealthy friends, and a lot of pressure from the Party) buy my way into getting the nomination. Boy our Party is REALLY f'd isn't it? Praise Jesus!".

  23. Four and The Door

    "The president transformed America, and he spent the last four years laying the foundation for a new government-centered society," Romney said. "I will spend the next four years rebuilding the foundation of an opportunity society led by free people and free enterprises."
    ______________________________________________________________________________________________
    And to be fair, Obama has no idea how to unleash the power of free enterprises. He has never been involved with one. He knows academia and government. That's just a basic advantage Mitt Romney has. And it is huge. A critical foundation of American success has been limited government and a vibrant free enterprise system. In the last 2 centuries America has shown the world the power of free enterprise.

  25. Gotta Be Kiddin

    The man is building an elevator in his house for his cars and he says the President is out of touch?!?!? I'm sure that gas prices are really effecting him and and his family. Just what would Romney do to lower gas prices? Remember, the President just finished paying off his student loans not long before he was elected. He didn't (and still doesn't) have homes all over the country and I don't believe his wife had a couple of Cadillacs that she drove. MItt Romney is the last person in the world to call President Obama out of touch. As far as flying around on Air Force One (carrying out the business of this country) is concerned I believe Presidents have been doing that for years. Or is there some reason why President Obama shouldn't be using this airplane.
