Santorum, Perry privately met in Texas

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum met with former opponent Rick Perry earlier this week, CNN confirmed Friday.

"We viewed it was a courtesy visit," Perry's spokesman Ray Sullivan said, without discussing specifics of the conversation.

The meeting, held in Austin, came Tuesday just hours before Santorum faced disappointing losses in Wisconsin, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

On Thursday, amid calls for Santorum to drop out of the race, Santorum’s team met privately with conservative leaders. Santorum and some of his supporters want Gingrich to get out of the race, but the candidate has repeatedly vowed to stay in the running.

Gingrich now enjoys the support of Perry, who quickly threw his weight behind the former House speaker after ending his presidential bid in January.

While it's not known what Perry and Santorum discussed when they met Tuesday, the Texas governor's spokesman said, "Perry remains a Newt backer."

In recent days, Santorum has publicly set his eye on Texas, saying a win in the Lone Star State, with its 152 delegates at stake–next month would be a game changer for his campaign.

This wasn't the first time the two Rick's had talked since the Texas governor ended his campaign. During a visit to San Antonio last month, Santorum said he had spoken with Perry several times prior in the weeks following Perry's departure from the race.

Santorum is going to lose PA too. And that, in the long run, is going to HURT him more and ruin all chances of him coming back in 2016 – Anyway, there is not going to be a chance for any "conservative" in 2016; this is their last year before they die down and drop off the planet earth!!!

No one wants a continuation of what is being presented now – NO ONE! The Repubs have ruined themselves by attacking women and other matters that women care about!!! In 2016 – What are they going to have – More of the SAME!!!???

Obama 2012 – The ONLY Trusted Way Forward – for us WOMEN, especially!!!

Two guys on the playground, asking themselves, "how do we take out the bully?"
Sad thing that they will nit be able to do anything about it. Most GOPknow that they cannot do anything about the bully either.

  4. Truth and Nothing But the Truth

A waste of time Santorum. Drop out before Romney humiliates you in your home state. As the song says "You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em". You playing a losing hand and risk losing your political future.

It is quite amazing how these two malignants are magnets for each other. Similar to "Truth and Nothing" and Four and the". [R] malignants must love self-pity and self-inflicted mysery.

It's amazing how much more credible Rick Perry seems now that he's not running for president.

  8. Romney and Potential Shady Investments

As a presidential nominee, I think it is important that we know where Romney invests his money. Does he invest in shady companies? It's all about character. Or is he just chanting his oil mantras because that's where his investments go? So is it Big Oil? Coal? Natural Gas? I want to know. Fracking to obtain natural gas causes seismic activity and has the potential to poision ground water. I would like to see where his millions go.

would have LOVED to have been a fly on the wall at THAT meeting. Probably trying to figure out which one is the biggest religious zealot. Remember the Almighty told Perry to run for POTUS so he said and I guess HE is also telling Santorum to stay in the race.
