Grassley calls Obama 'stupid' on Twitter

(CNN) - Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, who has long been an outspoken critic of President Barack Obama, used scathing language in a tweet Saturday to condemn the president's remarks about the Supreme Court last week.

"Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law," Grassley wrote, using typical shorthand for the social networking website.

Responding to the message, Obama campaign senior strategist David Axelrod, himself a prolific tweeter who often engages critics of the president, blasted the Iowa senator.

"Heads up, Sen. Grassley. I think a 6-year-old hijacked your account and is sending out foolish Tweets just to embarrass you!" Axelrod wrote.

Obama last Monday was asked about measures his administration was taking in the event the United States Supreme Court determines his health care law is unconstitutional. The high court heard oral arguments on the law in late March. Obama said such a decision would be "unprecedented."

"I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress," the president said.

Scathing, ridiculously bad language! I follow news sites, busnesspeople, authors and other adults on Twitter. Rarely do I see incorrect grammar, capitalization and spelling such as that in Grassley's tweet. Axelrod's reply was dead on! It looks ridiculous for a grown man, let alone someone in the Senator's position, to write such crap.

Insane, the continuous disrespect the GOP has consistently exhibited. Can't wait until the election, so that these racists, ignoramuses can crawl in a hole after their Asses are whipped. Stupid

funny how many on this are talking about how "disrespectful" his comments were yet you liberals had no problem what so ever disrespecting George Bush. I still can’t believe how much garbage was said about him on line, on TV and in general…….so, it works both ways…..I had to deal with it then….so you all deal with the idiot in charge now. :o)

Okay? And given Obama's recent comments on the Supreme Court's decision on his healthcare bill, I'm inclined to agree with him...

Dear Chuck Grassley, I can not understand your post. It looks like a stupid person wrote it. If you are going to insult someone, you should write a more intelligent post.

I find it particularly interesting that since President Obama has been in office, it has become acceptable to call the President of the United States a liar, a thug and now Stupid..... Why is that?

Hahaha...you really think Obama cares what you say....The president had to walk through the corridors of hell during the last election, you and your people to sick verbal jabs at his wife, his children and called him every name in the book..So your name calling really just makes you look foolish and immature. So a republican that hates President Obama. Calls him stupid...and conservatives are smart because.....? Now the mandate that repugs wanted becomes an evil thing because Obama put it into the law. These conservatives are so disgusting people. Hatred is their God.

While I actually like Chuck, it is funny that the GOP call anyone stupid. Any party that adds someone like Sarah Palin to their ticket thinking that she would be a "positive" ought not to comment on ANYONE's intelligence. Same goes for anyone that thinks Ricky Santorum would be a good choice to lead our country. The Dems mopped the floor with a jr sentaor from Illinois that had an african american parent. We live in a racist nation so something the Dems are doing is working. Whatever the GOP has been trying to say to the american people, well, it only resonates with the rich and super rich and those delusional Christians that are unfortunately still relevant in our political arena.

You LIBS try to make something out of nothing especially CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS & worst of all MSNBC. Where in that article did he CALL OBOZO stupid? He said the American people are not as stupid as this president. And I for one completely disagree 100% not because this president is not an ABSOLUTE MORON. But the American people were stupid enough to vote this one term wonder into office in the first place. What can be more stupid then that. Would love to see his College records. Guarantee BUSH had a higher GPA then this loser.

Is there no respect for the President of the United States. I don't really care if you are Democrat or Republican. It's called Respect and I guess the Senate wasn't taught any. Have you noticed, they do not refere to him as the President Obama, they call him Obama. George Bush is not the President any longer but they still call him former President Bush. I hope they learn RESPECT......

As someone who lives in Iowa, I am embarrssed to have you representing Iowa. President Obama is the President of the United States of America and whether you like him or not, he still deserves respect for the office he is holding, not some little toddler who is calling him stupid.

I'll take a 100% stupid President that cares for the American people than a idiotic and moronic Senator like Grassly who
    does'nt.
