Grassley calls Obama 'stupid' on Twitter

(CNN) - Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, who has long been an outspoken critic of President Barack Obama, used scathing language in a tweet Saturday to condemn the president's remarks about the Supreme Court last week.

"Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law," Grassley wrote, using typical shorthand for the social networking website.

Responding to the message, Obama campaign senior strategist David Axelrod, himself a prolific tweeter who often engages critics of the president, blasted the Iowa senator.

"Heads up, Sen. Grassley. I think a 6-year-old hijacked your account and is sending out foolish Tweets just to embarrass you!" Axelrod wrote.

Obama last Monday was asked about measures his administration was taking in the event the United States Supreme Court determines his health care law is unconstitutional. The high court heard oral arguments on the law in late March. Obama said such a decision would be "unprecedented."

"I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress," the president said.

For Sen. Grassley to call the president of the United States "stupid" in private, behind closed doors, is one thing. For a senator to do so in public via Twitter shows incredible lack of class, manners, and most of all respect for the presidency. But unfortunately, this is what we've come to in America.

This is why the government is broken and dysfunctional. Members of Congress might disagree with the President, but there simply is no reason for the unbridled hatred that has been directed against him from Congressional Republicans. It's time for everyone to grow up and start solving this country's VERY SERIOUS problems.

The stupidity of Mr. Grassley is incredible. First of Grassley should understand that the President did not say exactly what Grassley and his party thinks he said. Secondly and most importantly, Grassley could not be more stupid to think that our nation's problems will simply go away by stuffing the pockets of the rich and turning the middle class into beggars waiting for $ to trickle down to their begging bowl. The middle class, poor, and the seniors should be made aware of this hidden agenda of Grassley and his kronies.

Reading these posts demonstrates how divided this country is. Unfortunately it takes a sneak attack on pearl harbor or an event like 9/11 to bring the country together. Doesn't say much for our "advanced" society.

When you wear a green glass, everything looks green to you. If you look at our President for who he is, but look at him with racial hatred, he will look just as he looks to Grassley. I remember an incident narrated to me by Mr. C. Subramaniam, brother of the famous Astrophysicist C. Chandrasekhar. Mr. Subramaniam was in the Louvre looking at the painting of Mona Lisa, when a guy like Grassley walked in, looked at the painting from different angles and exclaimed to Mr. Subramaniam "I don't see anything great in this painting!". Mr. Subramaniam responded to him by saying, "My dear fellow, it is not you are judging the painting; it is you who is being judged by your comments." But calling Grassley a fool will be a compliment to him! nirmala@sify.com.

I may not agree with everything the President does, I thought he might have factually correct but could have handled this more gracefully. HOWEVER, I can say that without insulting a man and take opposition to his arguments where I think a man is wrong. Calling him stupid was an insult not only to him but to the Office of the President.

Insulting the person on makes a person look far less than the person they insult. If you cannot use a man's proper name or argue intelligently then why bother?

I'll tell you what is truly stupid.....

Never allow a ardent Socialist Democrat, like Obama, run a Free Market Capitalist Organization.....NEVER DO IT....because '..they (Obama) don't know how...'

...the EVIDENCE tells us this true.

I wasn't aware that President Obama had attacked independence of the Supreme Court. Then again, I'm unaware of how Health Reform was supposed to create Death Panels – but the GOP claimed that too. I guess if you're a Republican, you need someone in your party to translate. If you're a Democrat – you just listen to what the man says.

@AesopsRetreat.com – I guess you missed your republican buddies' attempt to nail the president with an old video of him at HARVARD. Lot's of imbiciles go to school there. you were probably too busy riding around in your pickup looking for black people to shoot. Oh, that wasn't you? hard to tell the difference.

The bickering and childish games between repubs vs. dems have hurt the us ecomony and divided the country than 9/11. At least with 9/11 we supported each other and cared about one another. This childish back/forth has ruined and stalled the health of the u.s.a economy. Get all of them OUT THE OFFICE ALL OF THEM and start over!

It's funny how Grassley calls Obama stupid because of Obama's comments on activist judges, but he (Grassley) has said the same thing about activist judges in the past. Hypocrisy at its finest.
