(CNN) - Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, who has long been an outspoken critic of President Barack Obama, used scathing language in a tweet Saturday to condemn the president's remarks about the Supreme Court last week.
"Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law," Grassley wrote, using typical shorthand for the social networking website.

Responding to the message, Obama campaign senior strategist David Axelrod, himself a prolific tweeter who often engages critics of the president, blasted the Iowa senator.
"Heads up, Sen. Grassley. I think a 6-year-old hijacked your account and is sending out foolish Tweets just to embarrass you!" Axelrod wrote.
Obama last Monday was asked about measures his administration was taking in the event the United States Supreme Court determines his health care law is unconstitutional. The high court heard oral arguments on the law in late March. Obama said such a decision would be "unprecedented."
"I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress," the president said.
"these people are constantly calling republicans nasty names. once again you Dems are pathetic."
Your list was full of non-politicians as well as politicians, so your assignment is to compare apples to apples and not apples to hammers. Please give specific examples of the "nasty" things Dem politicians have said about a GOBP president.
About 15 years before he became President, Mr. Obama was president of the Harvard Law Review, about as far from being stupid as one can imagine. What a shame that national political discourse is so often stupid.
It's about time someone is not afraid to speak their mind.
It amazes me how stuck the libs are on GW Bush? When does Obama become president anyway? At least Bush knows how may states there are and that the Supreme Court does indeed have the authority to strike down laws that are not consitutional, no matter how many people in Congress voted for it.
Over the TOP. The Congressman should be ashamed.
This behavior should NOT be tolerated from our elected officials.
Sen. Chuck Grassley should be removed from office for insulting and hating the president. The Supreme court's republicans are enemies of the american people for denying american citizens health care.
Well I see these posts and laugh... Even though the Good Senator could have used a bit different languuage to get his point across... He was however spot on. Obama to state what he did was not only idiotic, but it was also a lie, and he knows it. So the senators statement does stand... it was in fact very stupid of him to say that. It is what it is... Koolaid drinkers accept that this fool in the White house is way over his head....
We get it. Republicans now call our president stupid, a "liar", and have one goal, to remove him from office. The party that brought us economic meltdown, 2 wars, 911, botched Katrina, the deficit, and on and on. If we elect Republicans into office, we deserve what we get.
It is hilarious that a Republican calls anyone stupid after eight stupendously brain dead Bush years, the frighteningly ridiculous crusade to take away women's rights, and the spectacle of utter ignorance displayed by the Republican candidates over the last few months. Grassley has a serious lack of grasp of reality.
Get a grip, Grassley! The President is intelligent, thoughtful, and well-educated. You, on the other hand, sound like a fifth-grader losing the playground argument who can only come up with "stupid" as a rebuttal.
none of them are stupid (except santorum). its all part of the plan for govt control of the us. they scare us with propaganda and offer safety if we give up our freedoms.
Grassley is on his way out. Say bye bye
why do we still have Reps and Dems again? Shouldn't it be about what the American people want, not what a bunch of washed up people think we want? Think outside the box not just a specific part.
REPUBLICANS, let's have some respect. This is our president you're mocking. I think he makes a good point. He is a legal scholar, did you know? Maybe he's not getting the best results. But then consider the predicament the last administration left us. Maybe we'd do a little better if you helped him (and the rest of us) instead of hanging around playing the party card. Get over the name calling and get to work. And not just for your personal goals - but all of us.
