Bush wishes his name wasn't attached to tax cuts

New York (CNNMoney) – Former President George W. Bush said Tuesday he wishes his name wasn't so firmly attached to one of his administration's signature pieces of legislation - the broad-based tax cuts set to expire at the end of this year.

"I wish they weren't called the Bush tax cuts. If they were called someone else's tax cuts, they'd be less likely to be raised," he said in introductory remarks at a conference at the Bush Presidential Center, which he opened after leaving office.

I am sure Bush wishes that he could walk away from the worst Legacy a President ever had.

I still don’t believe he understands the enormity of the disaster he left behind.

The repubs think people are stupid. We aren't, we know things take time especially when you are faced with obstruction at every turn. We know our Presidents name is President Obama, not Jesus Christ. He does not walk on water or change water into wine. He is a human being that came into office after the worst President in history dug us on debt so deep, it could take many more years to dig out of. Any person that believes a man that hides money and ships jobs to China is going to be better for our country needs to think again.

    OBAMA 2012!

Well his name is attached to them for a couple of reasons: First, he instigated them in his "bold economic plan" to get the economy working and promised they would be temporary, then: Sescondly he failed to have the courage to stop them after starting two off budget wars that blew up the biggest deficit in American history to that point.
These taxes will forever be associated with Mr. Bush, as will the crash of 2008. Now if everybody wants to change the name to the GOP welfare for the rich tax cuts, I'm cool with that!

"It's funny how Republicans are always harping about personal responsibility – as long as they don't have to take any themselves."

Maybe this will help you understand what they mean: they take their self-appointed responsibility (as they see it) to tell everyone else how to live their lives very personally.

His name doesn't have to be on the list, we already know his pockets are lined with lots of money from Big Oil and daddys cronie budies. He can certainly step up and pay his fair amount. It would only be a drop in the bucket for how many American familys he ruined, both financially and physcially and emotionally for wars we should have never started.

this was the single most contributing factor that caused the recession , he was trying to do a favor for his millionair friends and it didnt work , Try to pay your bills with no money coming in , you cant ,plus he blew a good economy that Bill Clinton had set up for him .the real truth may never be known about his Presidency which failed .
