Gingrich: Santorum ran 'remarkable campaign'

(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich wasted no time going after Rick Santorum's backers on Tuesday, following his opponent's decision to end to his White House bid.

"I humbly ask Senator Santorum's supporters to visit Newt.org to review my conservative record and join us as we bring these values to Tampa," Gingrich said in a statement. "We know well that only a conservative can protect life, defend the Constitution, restore jobs and growth and return to a balanced budget."

Gingrich commended Santorum on his presidential run, saying the former Pennsylvania senator "waged a remarkable campaign."

"His success is a testament to his tenacity and the power of conservative principles," Gingrich said.

The former House speaker repeated his promise to stay in the race until the nomination is clinched, even if that means taking it to the national convention in August.

"I am committed to staying in this race all the way to Tampa so that the conservative movement has a real choice," he said.

The more one comes to know of Newt, the less there is to like. He is a mean-spirited, philandering, pseudo-intellectual windbag, but other than that, he's the perfect Republican candidate.

Isn't it time to go back to vacations and all those cruise trips Newt? This primary is the only time Newt actually worked a little bit in a long time. His advisors have to force him to a break from his non-stop vacations. Romney can dig into his swiss account and buy Newt a year's worth of vacation tickets to make him suspend his campaign.

"Whatever. From here on out, the GOP primary is merely a coronation."

    The Fisher King maybe.

"Hey Newt... I like you and all, but give it a few hours before swooping in like a buzzard, mmmmmmkay?"

Yeah! Besides, Mittens is the one with the corner on the carrion bird analogies market, him being a vulture capitalist and all....

Unbelievable. Newt shows no class or restraint in swooping down like a fat vulture looking to pick clean some backers.

What with this "I'm staying in the race" statement, what now disqualifies Gingrich more than anything from becoming President is that he's severely delusional.

I think "remarkable" is an eloquent way of putting. It was full of memorable remarks.

Newt is side lined by the media and the liberals who registered as republicans so they could vote for Romney, a liberal by heart. Newt has a healthy ego but those who can't compete with him want to devalue him. Too bad there are so many stumps out there who need to devalue him. I guess we need to start recruiting intelligent people.

Nobody needs to go to Newt.org to see his record. We experienced it in the 90s. No thank you.

NEWT is the best and perfect Republican candidate!
He will hold his fart and keep talking and will occasionally blast some gas to doom our Bush-killed economy. He will use his gas to fbring US to some trillion dollar wars. He will use his gas to blast off to the lunar colony.
