Evangelical leader: Mormonism will become a bigger issue for Romney

(CNN) – A top evangelical leader who is close to Mitt Romney's presidential campaign says the candidate's Mormon faith will be even more of an issue in the general election than it has been in the primary, predicting that the focus on Romney's faith will present a challenge to Romney.

Richard Land, the public policy chief for the Southern Baptist Convention, said Wednesday that he expects that the news media will make Mormonism more of an issue in an attempt to get independent voters to support President Barack Obama.

Romnety makes John McCain look like a strong candidate. No matter how the GOP trys to spin this, Romney is the weakest general election candidate in more than a generation. Good luck suckers!

Will the skin heads sit this election out? What about the hate groups and militias? If they stay home, it could hurt the GOP.

"According to the 2011 annual report on White House staff, female employees earned a median annual salary of $60,000, which was about 18 percent less than the median salary for male employees ($71,000)."

This is textbook projecting, folks. Remember where this all started, with a "public policy chief" with the Southern Baptist Convention. Soon the ABC will unite behind this first guy condiemning the Obama campaign for making Mormonism an issue in the campaign.

Meanwhile, you have not heard a word from any liberal or Democrat about Mormonism, LDS, or Mitt Romney. Nothing, not a single word. Instead what we have are the far right playing the religion card to divide the indepeent vote that latest polling shows that they are losing.

  11. vote the Tea Party OUT in 2012

why is this always a problem on the right? Most of these so-called religious right people do NOT practice what they preach and come out as being so pious only when it is suits their purpose to be. Mitt is as much of a Mormon ans Obama is not a Muslim. As far as I am concerned he could practice anything he wants and even join my church and I STILL wouldn't vote for him.

  12. No More Hope and Change Obama

After Rev. Wright, the Morman Church looks sane! I don't see this being an issue. Obama brings it up, Rev. Wright and all his hate speech and Obama sitting through it for 20 years comes up...

The media doesn't influence me - it's the excuse the republicans use for their failures to attrack educated people to their irrational ideas. NO MORMoNS EVER. I've known enough of them personally to know I don't care for their backward thoughts and actions.

If the mormons are such benevolent people, why are so many mormon women and children on welfare? Seems to me their husbands and churches could take care of them and get them off the dole. Google it if you don't believe me.

People thought Obama was a Muslim so for most Americas I don't think this will end up being an issue at all. It is only going to show who is a bigot and who is not. Welcome back to the 16th Century.

Thats right people a cult leader is a breath away from being POTUS. Republican nominee Bishop of a cult that follows a false prophet and reads from a false doctrine. Freedom of religion thats hos right but stop with saying its christian cause its not and never will be. Joseph Smith was a con man and Mitt Romney is the child of the con game. Mormons have been trying to become president since the time of Joseph Smith it is their church number one goal. I did my part gave all the fools out there a chance to think about how dangerous a president Romney would be. Mormon laws and Mormon doctrine.

How does Bishop Romney poll with the Jewish voters?

Exactly how many Jews have the Mormon church baptized? Where is the link to said list?

Well, it seems that the Republicans are doing a fine job of making Romney's Mormonism an issue all by itself. The Romney campaign and the evangelicals seem to be the only ones concerned about it.I doubt very seriously if the Obama campaign wants to wade into that sea of craziness.

So the man known among his peers as the "Wholly Controversial Holy Man" is going to blame the media if
    Mormonism becomes an issue.
Not Ralph Reed, Pat Roberson, Tim Pawlenty, Michael Farris, etc etc etc, just the media.
Typical Teavangelicalpublican propoganda. Don't blame us, blame the media. Newt is a master at it, and these
    people are catching up.
Romney had better become his own man, fast, or he will forever be a puppet to the radical right wing, and
America will suffer for it, and so will he.
